Whale Island--
We start seeing a small boy camouflaged under leaves, waiting
for something to happen at the bottom of his fishing rod.
Suddenly his rod goes down, he caught something! His eyes
become wide with surprised and he yells, "I GOT IT!"
An enormous fish comes out of the water. He takes the fish
and runs to his village with the fish resting on the boy's
back. He lets it drop to the floor and a surprised crowd
gathers around and gasps are heard. Some men start talking
— Even with five people, we never got "the master
of the swamp"
—It's been ten years i<ve been fishing here and
I told myself we'd never see the fish
—That kid is good!
The young boy starts talking, "THERE! I got the master
of the swamp, it's your turn Mito to keep your promise."
He held up a card saying inscription to the Hunter exam.
Mito looks at the card and does not say anything.
—Come on! Let him try out at least!
—Yeah! I'm sure Gon will be an excellent Hunter!
Mito yells out, "You're such a bunch of irresponsables!
Watch what you say!."
Gon then says in response, "She's right! Words have
their importance. In fact, it's you Mito who teached me
to always hold my promises."
Mito simply looks at him and then signs the electronic card.
Then she adds, "Do as you wish..."
"All right, thank you" says Gon. Gon then takes
off running for the closest computer.
Inside Mito's home--
Mito's mother says, "He has it in the blood..."
Mito angrily replies with, "BUT HOW!?!?!?!? I never
even told him his dad was a Hunter. Gon himself never asked"
By now Mito was crying
"Someone probably told him, unless his decision was
only a coincidence... Anyways, I knew some day this would
happen. As for me, I don't have the strenght to stop him.
He has this light in his eyes. His dad had the same..."
Gon in the forest--
Gon reached a "mailbox-computer" and sent his
inscription cards to the Hunter Federation. He wistled and
a great bear-monster came running. He jumped onto Gon and
they fell in a nearby stream. He starts fishing for his
big friend and starts looking at him and then at a card
he is holding.
Gon thinking--3 years earlier--
A huge menacing monster appears, he starts growling and
a scared Gon simply stays there, scared to death and unable
to move. A smaller bear-monster appears behind the huge
one and looks at Gon. Suddenly one of the huge monster's
paw comes down trying to hit Gon, but a man appears holding
the paw back with a sword. A card with two X's comes out
of the man's pocket. Gon looks at him and cries a little.
The man says, "A bear-monster and his kid, it doesn't
please me but amonster like that can cause a lot of harm
to men so..." he takes his sword takes it out of it's
protection and in a flash kills the monster "we have
to get rid of it." He walks over to gon and says "can
you stand?"
—um... yes
"The man hits Gon with a fist and Gon goes toppeling
backwards. The man then screams at Gon, "IDIOT!!! Nobody
goes into a forest this thick in this season!!! Look..."
and he points at a mark made into the bark of a tree. It
looks like two perpendicular lines crossing each other over
and over. "It's the sign left by the bear-monsters
to tell anyone that they have their kids with them. Can't
you see it?!?!?! Any animal while seeig this would flee
in the two seconds they see it to another mountain, which
would not change anything. Your parents never thought you
that???" The man says some more things to himself and
Gon starts talking
— I don't have a father nor a mother... They died
in an accident right after my birth. It's my aunt who takes
care of me.."
— Sorry kid... put this on your cuts, it will avoid
them from infecting themselves.
Then he tossed something at him in a little bag. He walked
over to the carcass of the monster seeing that the monster's
kid was crying over his mother's body. The man was going
to kill him.
Gon asks, "What are you going to him?"
—Kill him...
—!!
—He's not yet trained to find food for himself. If
we let him live, there's a high chance for him to become
hateful of humans who killed his mother. He will then represent
a great danger for humans.
Gon ran over to the kid and put him into his arms. The kid
started scratching Gon frantically to get away from him.
—I will take care of him, Gon says
—That's impossible! The bear-monsters does not let
themselves get tamed.
The little bear-monster keeps in scratching Gon while Gon
looks at the man.
—!! says the man... But... you are... Tell me, is
you dad called Jin?
Gon seems surprised and askes the man
—Do you know my dad, sir?
—sir??? pffft (The man seemed surprised to get called
that...) For a surprise this is a good surprise. There was
something I couldn't explain so I came here to figure it
out, on Jin's home-land. My trip wasn't so unuseful after
all... I am Kaito, Hunter in my free time. Sit down. I am
a disciple of Jin.
Time goes by and the sun is now setting. The little bear-monster
stays where he is after getting away from Gon. He watched
the duo bury his mother.
—Kaito started speaking again... Jin teached me the
hunting basics. The last challenge he gave me was to find
him. And this is harder than anything else! He is the best
Hunter that I know of. And if I hadn't have met him, I would
have probably be in some alley in some city agonising...
He kept on talking to Gon. Meanwhile the little bear-monster
got closer to Gon...
—Jin is not dead, Kaito continued, if your aunt lied
to you it was because she does not want you to follow your
dad's traces. But there's nothing to do about it. e could
see in you the faculties of the best Hunters.
Then he left saying, a good Hunter is loved of all the animals.
The little bear-monster was now close to Gon and sitting
down.Gon looked at him and took him in his arms while the
little creature happily let Gon raise him. After Gon took
the card Kaito forgot...
Back to reality... --In the forest saying his farewells.
—Gon looks at the card and says, "Now... Kon
(He's talking to the bear-monster now became an adult) we
will not be able to see each other anymore because I will
become a Hunter. A Hunter must be feared of the animals
( ERROR! IT CONTRADICTS ITSELF!!! ERROR!!!) and must do
some tasks that will usually attract hate from other people.
This is why an animal who goes well with a human will never
be able to reign over the forest. Kon, you are the "king"
of this forest. I dont want to create trouble for you, do
you understand?
Kon looks into space and then leaves Gon. Gon looks at him
leave and all of a sudden he gets surprised. Kon is there
with his wife and a whole lot of animals from the forest.
—Bye!!! Take care!!!
Gon runs away and all the animals present wave at him. Gon
runs with his head down probably crying... He goes home
and Mito is at the dining table drinking.
—She asks him, "When are you leaving?"
—At the start of next week.
—I see... You know what you dad did?
—Yes
—He abandoned you while you were only a little baby.
and even because of that...
Gon looked at the floor with a sad look on his face. then
says
—To abandon his son for his job, Hunter, only for
that we could say it is an exceptional job!
—Gon... You. You're not his son for nothing...
Mito slams the door as she leaves the room. and Gon think,
"Sorry Mito, But you're right, I am his son. The last
challenge consists in finding him. and this is harder than
anything else, because he is the best Hunter which existes.
Gon leaves--
G on goes in the direction of a large boat.He stops as some
of his friends are there to see him leave
—Take this, it's my goodbye present
—Oh! Thanks!
—Take care!
—Gon...
Someone was pointing in the direction of the street. Mito
was standing there looking at Gon.
—Gon came over and yelled, Mito! Thanks for everything
you did for me!
—Gon! Excuse me... I lied to you. Jin didn't abandon
you, I "kidnapped" you from you dad asking for
the right to keep you at a court...
—Gon looks at her and says, "I knew you lied
to me because when you lie you turn your face from mine."
Gon went on the boat and it left
—TAKE CARE he yelled I promise you i'll become a super
Hunter and come back!!
Mito waved and Gon stood there as the boat went farther
and farther away from the island. "HAHAHAHA" a
man laughed at him after Gon said that
—A super Hunter? You're kidding, right kid? Ont his
only boat we are tens of people hoping to become Hunters.
Each year, from the four corners of the world, thousands
of men, each stronger then the one before, try passing the
tests. A lot of people trying, but little of them passing.
Everybody has their priorities here. it's not even rare
for someone to kill his companion. You see kid, it's more
easy to say then to do.
The men looked at him and Gon did not say anything.
Narrating--
And this is how Gon's trip started. Leaving his island to
become a Hunter and to meet his father. "It's going
to be crazy" said the capitain, this is what Gon kept
in his memory.
