Introduction

I've always wanted an arcade machine. I remember when I was about 14 when a mates Dad brought home a cocktail version of Phoenix with a broken glass top (it had come from a pub!). I thought he was the lucky git.

Spin forward a few years. Namco release the Classics collections on Playstation, I buy the Dual Analogue sticks just to play Assault properly. I even get my old Amstrad Monitor and sit it on its side so I can play with the screen rotated correctly. I turned an old cupboard into a makeshift cabinet. It looked as rough as it sounds, but it was like the real thing at the time.

Then I got a PC and started looking on the Internet I came across an early version of MAME, I couldn't believe it. Playing classics again like Track and Field, Mr Do. My PC was pretty slow and only the real basic games ran near to full speed.

Times moved on PC's are much more powerful, Rastan the game I wished would play at full speed now runs like a dream. I saw adverts on the net for the HotRod controllers I thought these were pretty fine. It started me thinking about building a complete cabinet. I looked around the net and saw examples of people who had built cabinets; I was in awe of their efforts. I saw and built some cute scale machines from the Paper Arcade hosted on Way of the Rodent this was when I really started thinking seriously about building a machine. I decided I should definitely go for it this is what this website is about, my efforts to construct my dream machine. I will make loads of mistakes along the way but who cares I'll enjoy building my machine.
