A student excitedly confided to me after a class that she had just had a major realisation. She said that she had discovered she had been pushing herself far too hard in her asana practice. Easing back gave her the opportunity to be more present in the poses - to feel deeply relaxed, but at the same time, energised and alert. She had discovered the wisdom of Patanjali's dictum that posture should be steady and comfortable.
