Classes are an enjoyable way of learning tools to release tension and fatigue, to improve your health and to enhance your enjoyment of life. A theme of the classes is that the way in which the poses and other practices are done needs to be customised to suit individuals. The classes are informed by the understanding that postures should be executed so that there is a balance between effort and rest, tension and relaxation, strength and flexibility. To achieve this balance for each person requires individual adaptation of the poses and here an experienced teacher is very helpful.
We emphasise linking the breath with movement in the poses partly because attention to the breath is a wonderful way to calm the mind and to achieve the relaxed alertness, necessary for a complete experience of Yoga.
Classes last an hour and fifteen minutes.

Meditation has enormous benefits for body and mind. This 10 week class will enable beginning meditation practitioners to develop the necessary skills for an effective home practice. We will address in a systematic way the obstacles to deep meditation and how to overcome them. Participants will have individual guidance on the most appropriate sitting posture and practices to prepare the mind and body for meditation, especially selection of breathing techniques. Advanced practitioners will learn subtle pointers to deepen their meditations.
Meditation has been described as "falling awake". It is an effortless process of diving deep within. Meditation is not concentration. It is actually de-concentration. Several different meditation techniques will be shared during the course, all of which lead to a natural state of deeply restful awareness. Once the basic skills have been mastered, meditation, rather than being a chore, can bring enormous satisfaction and renewal.
We will also share knowledge about how to bring the meditative state into activity, so meditation doesn't just become a temporary respite from the challenges of life, but has a profound impact on our moment by moment experience.
These one hour classes are held regularly. The term fee is $110 or $15 per class on a casual basis.
Chris Dale is an experienced meditation guide who has been instructing groups and individuals in meditation for over 14 years. He has studied meditation intensively in the Kriya Yoga and Shankaracharya traditions for the last 32 years.
