Stepping
Since LSU was founded we have embraced and excelled at the traditional art of stepping. Stepping is derived from our indigenous and African roots and is an important part of the Latino heritage, stepping has become a creative and unique form of artistic and musical entertainment, and a tradition the brothers of Lambda Sigma Upsilon, value and honor. Stepping provides students, parents, faculty, members, college/university officials, and the public a forum to better understand the unique history and traditions of our culturally rooted Brotherhood. Throughout the years Brothers have performed stepshows at various colleges and universities, but no one team was ever recognized as the National Step Team. Eight Brothers from five different chapters ushered in the new millenium by dedicating their time, energy and talents to form Lambda Sigma Upsilon's 1st National Step Team.
These Brothers are: Ray Cabrera - Taino Chapter Khurram Ali - Pioneros Chapter Omar Gomez - Taino Chapter Amable Martinez - Emperadores Chapter Andy Mendez - Pioneros Chapter Danny Mendez - Areyto Chapter Marcel Rogers - Emperadores Chapter Michael Daif - Taino Chapter
Our performances are another way LSU gives back to our communities and educational institutions and are not for personal gain. Our mission is to make people aware of what Lambda Sigma Upsilon stands for, to educate and of course to entertain. Even though we are the 1st National Step Team, we definately will not be the last to celebrat the art of Stepping and demonstrate what culture and tradition means to our Brotherhood. |
