About the Cinema Studies Program at SFSU

The M.A. in Cinema Studies at SFSU is a small, selective program with 8 to 10 students admitted each year. The program is intended for individuals who wish to pursue research and writing in selected areas of film scholarship. By providing a foundation in film history, theory and criticism, and the M.A. at SFSU prepares the student for further study at the Ph.D. level or instruction at the community college level.
