RESOURCES
This section lists a variety of sources available that will yield information on development related topics, potential job listings, or opportunities in the fields of education, activism or volunteerism.
A few major organizations are listed at top that provide links and information about job opporunities all over the world.
These are followed by a listing of most human resource websites at Canadian Universities and (some) Colleges. The positions posted on these sites are often not posted anywhere else and I strongly suggest visiting these sites often. The names of the institutions are links to the human resource department and often you will need to find the appropriate link to read the job listings.
The following section lists a number of development organizations in Canada (to the letter "c") taken from the Canadian Council for International Cooperation guide published a couple years ago. A link to the abbreviated internet guide put out by the CCIC is included. There is also a mention to the guides provided by Charity Village, an incredibly useful tool for those seeking information on any non-profit topic in Canada.
Next is a listing of all (International) Development Studies programmes in Canada (I put the word international in brackets because the programme at Queen's specifically omits the word international to bring attention to the aspects of development that are unique to Canada).
A listing of "Other" sites follows that includes development focused organizations or groups that do not exactly fit into any of the other categories.
Finally there is section for listserves that relate to international development issues. A listserv is basically an email community where like-minded individuals have subscribed to a service that sends out messages based around a common theme (development for instance, or forestry, or hockey...). Members are encouraged to share this information and contribute their own information or ideas. Hopefully this section will expand in the near future.
