There were democratic and republican party mascots on every street. The same models with different paint themes, though some had accessories attached like this donkey's wings and propellor. Some were very imaginative, all were colorful.
I don't remember the details, but they were there for a specific reason and for a specific time frame. GOP.
More GOP.
The Jefferson Memorial. In grammar school when I had to pick a "favorite" founding father, he was the one I chose. I still agree with many of his concepts, though its' been a long time since. The Jefferson memorial.
A better shot. It was a beautiful night. Fishing was illegal on the river after dark, and the police were using helicopters to locate fishermen. The few tickets they wrote couldn't have gathered enough revenue to pay for starting up a helicopter, never mind keeping one in the air. In the immortal words of Abby Hoffman, "Spelling Amerika with a 'K'," huh? Another shot.
Unfortunately, the distance between where I took this and the previous picture was too far, (on foot), to get both at the same level of sunset/ dusk, so I needed to make a choice on where I'd take the "best light" picture. This was the 'winner', though I wish I had returned to take the farther shots with better light. I did stay for almost a week. Another shot.
...and finally, the interior. ...and yet another.
