The Pastoral Epistle Page
The Apostle Paul wrote the bulk of New Testament
literature. Thirteen inspired letters
(“epistles”) have been preserved in our Bible.
Of these thirteen letters, three of them are somewhat different. These three letters were written to two
individuals very close to the Apostle’s heart:
Timothy and Titus.
Both were young men in their thirties who had been closely
discipled by Paul for pastoral ministry (hence the term “pastoral”
epistle). These three letters contain
some of Paul’s most clear teaching on such topics as: qualifications of church
leadership, church organization, church discipline, the importance of sound
doctrine, etc.
The below links highlight some of the important doctrines
of these three epistles. They are by no
means exhaustive commentaries on these epistles, but they should serve in
illuminating some of the important features of these three wonderful letters.
