My Recommendations

When I first decided to homeschool, I started by reading the Ruth Beechick books and A Charlotte Mason Education by Catherine Levison. These books are inexpensive, and offer great ideas on a quality education.

If you click on the title of the book, it will take you to view it, with price, reviews and option to buy.

Pre-K - 3rd Grade: The fun and easy age. They learn easy and need only the very basic: Reading, writing and arithmetic.  Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons is very popular. We have used it with great success. It also includes writing in each lesson. Ruth Beechnick's 3 R's (Reading Writing and Arithmetic are packed full of information. They take up little space and are easy on the budget.  I use these books daily.  Another set of books we use daily are the  What Your _th Grader Needs to Know series by E.D. Hirsch. Cuisenaire Rods and books and Miquon Math books. These are terrific ways to learn math with plenty of hands on experience.

3rd-Jr. High: I have found You Can Teach Your Child Successfully (4th -8th) by Ruth Beechick very useful. What Your _th Grader Needs To Know series by E. D. Hirsch, Pathway Readers, Wordsmith series, Key To math series, Wordsmith series, Simply Grammar, Greenleaf and Beautiful Feet guides, a good Map, a globe, outline maps (to fill in as you learn each new geographical location), English From the Roots Up, BJU math for 3rd grade, Saxon Math, Dorling Kindersley science books, and a good Child's Dictionary.
Keepers of the Faith is also a great program for families and churches.
