Jenny-Lynn Hayden and her brother Todd James Rice are the children of Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern and the villianess Rose Forrest, Thorn. Alan married Rose after she had been cured of her insanity by Wonder Woman and the Amazons but on their honeymoon Alan's ring brought out her bad side again. Thorn abandoned her children shortly before she killed herself and the two were split up in the orphanages. Jenny's powers manifested themselves one Christmas shortly before she was adopted when the janitor at the orphanage tried to make her the next in a long line of rape victims. The star pattern on her hand let out an energy burst that pushed him away.

She met her brother around the same time they applied for membership to the JSA, believing that their status as children a superhero gave them that right. When they were denied membership they, along with other children and wards of superheroes who were denied membership, formed their own superhero team, Infinity Inc.

After the dissolution of the team Jenny became a model and actress and then moved on to photography. To establish her new career she moved to New York and roomed with Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, a move that developed into a relationship that her brother disapproved of. When she and her brother aided in the destruction of the Starheart, which gave the two their powers, Jen lost her powers, apparently for good. She spent a brief period of time as Green Lantern, covering for Kyle when he attempted to form a new Green Lantern Corps. After he came back and she returned the ring Kyle took a step towards re-starting an old relationship with Titan Donna Troy. Unwilling to wait around while Kyle sorted out his confusion Jen left him.
