The original Mirror Master, Sam Scudder, stumbled upon a mirror that projected holograms while working in a prison workshop. He used it to escape, developed more mirror gadgets, and embarked upon his career of crime in Central City as the Mirror Master. Over the years he developed mirrors with fantastic effects ranging from hypnotism to physical transformations and dimension travel. Mirror Master became the most respected of the Flash's Rogues Gallery. Scudder died during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. For a while Captain Boomerang "borrowed" his costume, but then a new Mirror Master, a Scotsman known only as McCulloch, surfaced as a mercenary battling Animal Man. This Mirror Master was more threatening than his predecessor, although being a mercenary rather than a criminal meant that, under some circumstances, a better offer might swing his allegiance. So, also, would certain principles, much to the dismay of some of his more shady employers. McCulloch jumped at the offer Kadabra brought him and four other Rogues that would "guarantee that they would be remembered forever not as has-beens... but as the most infamous villains of their age." They all died as the opening act of Neron's bid to capture Captain Marvel. Some time later, he and the others were sent back to Earth as soulless killers, on a rampage stopped only when the Flash dealt with Neron to have their souls returned. Given a second chance at life, Mirror Master chose to return to his life of crime, a bit darker and edgier than he had been before. Bio by Kelson Vibber
