Halloween postponed
My doom has been scheduled for this friday. P-chan, Pearl-chan and I will be going to the haunted house this friday night. Since it'll be in this area, I wonder if Alby-kun will come as well? I got permission to leave early, so maybe we can have dinner afterwards? ^^;
Manga anticipated
'World's End' by Eiki Eiki-sensei came out today. I ordered that and 'Dear Myself' from amazon. To get the 'free shipping', I also ordered 'KH: Chain of Memories' the boxset. ^.^ Yay! I can't wait for it to arrive.
Self updates
I'm feeling lots better and my coughing and sneezing has toned down to occasionally rather than constantly. My head is kinda achy though and my mood is not good, hence my above status. Perhaps I'll feel better after my soup and shower. And ice cream...if I can have some.

More dinner after work
I went out with my co-worker and previous employee for dinner again tonight. (Different previous employee then last week. ^.^) The carp was totally yummy. *thinks of the delicious fish fat* ^___^ I met up with okaasan in Flushing afterwards and after a car mishap, we finally drove hom.
another house...another Halloween
As usual, Pearl-chan and P-chan would like to subject me to my doom in the shape of haunted houses. This latest scare will be at Stony. P-chan went to this place before (when we were still at school.) I didn't go with her at that time, but she went with some other friends and I heard it was pretty good. We're planning to go on Halloween and I'll just leave work early. The details are still being ironed out but we're going to be taking the train together and then drive to the place, freak out and then drive Pearl-chan and P-chan back to the train station. Easy, ne? ^^;
What is Sesshy without Inu?
Larkspur, the one who I made the Sesshy calendar for loved the calendars. ^.^ At her insistance, I'll be making an Inuyasha one as well. *download more pics* I'm doing that as well as working on my cosplay spear and playing video games...interchanging the tasks so that they will stay fun for me. ^.^ Hopefully, my FMA game will not take 4 years to play...like my KH game. ^^;

First 2008 calendar up!
I took a yaoi break yesterday and concentrated on the Sesshomaru themed calendar for my friend, larkspur. Finished it today. ^.^ Actually, I worked way into early saturday morning and didn't sleep until late. Then I went to sleep and woke at 6pm. ^^;
The style of the calendars is fashioned as this year's design. I'm too lazy to think of other designs as of yet. Maybe.... Anyway, the words written on the calendar is as follows:
Jan. - "I will not falter, I will not fall." Strength
Feb. - "Do not think that I will let you go." Strike
March - "I will not be lost, in this unending sky." Wind
April - "Ephmeral beauty, like pink snow." Sakura
May - "Staying quietly, in a healing sleep." Silence
June - "Unable to speak without actions." Truce
July - "Bathe in the shadows, but not in the dark." Moonlight
Aug. - "In the gentle summer nights, I can feel the breeze." Fireflies
Sept. - "Listening to the stillness..." Sounds
Oct. - "There are no sounds, but the clash of our swords." Steel
Nov. - "Night fades so quickly, in the approaching light." Dawn
Dec. - "A rare moment in dreams..." Smile
Not my best work (words and design,) but I hope she likes it. ^^; I'm leaving the option open for changes as needed. Since this was customized for larkspur, I added her b-day and Doraemon's b-day to the set. Only US holidays and Chinese holidays on this one. To check out the calendar, click here.

Too much to do
Besides me still sick, I've been running appts. everyday this week. As I told my co-workers, I don't have time to take a sick day. *sigh* Well, I have my usual dayoff tomorrow so I'm glad. I hope to sleep until late in the afternoon and wake up perfectly well. Hopefully.... ^^;
I've started picking out the pics from 2008 calendars. So hard! Not only do they have to be SFW, I also want pics that I personally would want to place on my wall/cubicle. There are nice pics, but those half-naked guys in bondage pics (*ahem* Yamane Ayano-sensei's art) aren't really SFW. ^^; Beauty is the key to my choices. Hope you guys like it once I'm done! ^-^

Tadaima!
Its late and I just got home. ^^; My co-workers and I went to Goodies in Chinatown for dinner tonight. The main purpose was to hang out with one of the co-workers that left the agency recently. She is South Asian but loves being 'Chinese'...almost as much as me being 'Japanese.' Almost...since my love is on an entirely different level...bordline obsession perhaps. ^^;
We had a similar menu as our previous visit to Goodies, dong bou rou, mushi rou, choi, P-chan's fav of xiao long bao and some other stuff. Besides the inside jokes and catching up, we decided to crack open our fortune cookies together and read it aloud adding 'in bed' at the end. This produced hilarious results...especially since all the fortune cookies were advertising the upcoming History Channel show, 'Lost Book of Nostradamus' so they took lines based from it. Mine was 'The guilty one is hidden in the misty copse'...in bed. Some thought that 'copse' was a typo of 'corpse'. Either one sounds bad. ^^; I checked online and now I am happy/confused to confirm that it is indeed 'copse'. Whatever that means.
I still feel not well, but at least my voice does not falter when speaking to clients. *cheers quietly* Off to bed!

before I go to bed
I promised myself that I would go to bed before 12am.... *stares at the time* Anyway, before I go to sleep, I want to clarify my thoughts on the latest explosion of gheyness (since my previous post was all about the lolz.)
Not that my opinion matters in any way, I totally agree with JK's thoughts on not adding the latest tibit in the story. Hilarious, entertaining tibit it is, but as many have pointed out, IT HAS NO RELEVENCE TO THE STORY. Anyway, we already have enough in the books to work with. (HP fanfiction has not suffered because Harry and Malfoy stayed in the closest. On the contrary, they can be married and in ghey denial. ^.^)
In answer to all the anti-Christian and pro-gay aspects of the story (*gasp* I'm going to talk about religion...not really ^^;) lets remember that HP is a story. A book that is categorized as 'fiction'. Its meant to be entertaining and it still is. The book is not about DD coming out of the closest. If I remember correctly, the main character is a boy named Harry and his adventures into puberty. Magic, relationships and even the sexual orientation of a character are only elements to a story. It does NOT change a person's life. If it did (aka. Snape's wives,) then I wonder about the sanity of the people. They belong in the same world as Mrs. Sephiroth and Mrs. Summers.
In short, parents, reading HP does not make kids into Satan worshipers. They will not turn gay upon reaching the last page. If they start wearing rainbow colored clothing and waving a stick around, don't blame JK. If you didn't want them to wear the rainbow colored shirt, why did you buy such a horrendous piece of clothing? Does that clarify my side of the things?
Wow...I never wrote so much about something not yaoi and not Japanime. ^^; Well, almost not yaoi. Oyasumi!

He's gay! It's canon!
So, it's no longer a spoiler to be screaming out JK Rowling's latest bomb on the world: Dumbledore was gay. 'Was' since he is afterall dead, but 'is' because he is still happily alive in our hearts and fandom. Even more happily in the HP slash fandom since it has now been confirmed that him shagging the male population at Hogwarts was not that far off from the canon. ^___^
How in the world did I miss this? This was reported on Oct. 16.... Oh, I was playing JUS and working on the gallery and getting sick.... No matter! I'm up to date now! *grins* Where was I when I found out? At work today. I just came back from a looooong court appt., opened my comp, checked e-mail and then did a quick look at some of my fav fandom sites...then fandomwank stopped me cold. O.O roflol I refrained from updating so I could finish my work so I could come home and then update.
You know, this will give everyone a whole new perspective when they read the books now and watch the movies. And the movies are not done yet. No one will have a 'before' and 'after' effect of knowing...everyone will just be watching the screen and go 'OMG, he did that because he LIKES him!' But then again, fandom has always been doing that with Harry/Hermione and Harry/Ron. (As my co-worker said, the 3 in the tent scenes in the last book was just screaming 'Brokeback Mountain'. ^.^) People are going to be re-reading the books for those hints.... GrindelwaldxDumbledore FTW!
A special thanks to my co-worker, KK who left me a message on facebook about the news a couple days back, but I didn't think much of it until now. ^-^ *goes back to the fun*

Status: still sick ~ Listening to: Tales From Earthsea on tv
Miyazaki's offspring
I finally decided to give my thoughts on Miyazaki Goro-san's first animated movie. Tales from Earthsea had a lot of hype about going in, since the books are so popular in the US. The author, Ursula K. Le Guin had her comments and thoughts about the movie, but you can read about them on her own site. I'm not going to compare it with Miyazai Hayao-san's works, since it's rude and unfair since this is Miyazaki Goro-san's movie and not a movie in the shadow of his father. My challenge for this movie is how it shows the elements that Studio Ghibli is known for.
Several factors I always note is the strong heroine (Therru,) a wise elderly woman (um, we have an old wizard,) and of course the flying sequence. Unfortunately, the flying scenes were short and not executed in detail as in other movies. Though the details on the dragons were beautifully done. I wish I saw more of them. Miyazaki-san really knows how to use colors! ^.^
Another point I found was that the movie lacked the ethereal sense that draws us into the conflict and world of the characters. The point of 'the-bad-guy-loses' was unclimatic and we get alot of hints of something going on (that happened already,) but no answers to those clues. Makes me want to go read the books to find out what...which may be a good thing. But I think the drawnout plot lacked depth. Speaking about light versus dark as well as shadows illuminated some of the plot points, but I wished they fleshed it out even more. (The scene between Therru and Arren's shadow was a good 'Ghibli' type moment.)
Um, did anyone see the scene of Sparrowhawk riding on the horse/llama with his glowing stick in hand? Doesn't that remind you of Gandalf during the LOTR movie? I think it was the 3rd one when Gandalf and Pippin was riding up to Minas Tirith and the Ringwraiths were flying overhead. Gandalf also had a glowing wand in hand.... Maybe its the wizardy thing to do. ^^; Another comparison is the captain of the soldiers...he looks alot like the captain in Nausicaa. He has the same two part mustache and looks quite villanous. When I saw him, I was like 'Hey! It's him again!' lol ^^;
Overall impression, I like the movie in itself. It doesn't have depth, but its enjoyable in it's short moments. Being Miyazaki Goro-san's first movie, I think it's fantastic. Music-as usual-is fantastic. No complaints here! ^.^ There were English dubs, but I haven't watched with it on yet. I don't know the company that dubbed it, but some US VAs were part of the cast. From what I can tell, the dubs seem to be fine. Nothing jarring and hurting my ears. The translations seem to be normal as well. Once they put it through the Disney wringer, it will change (if it ever goes through Disney...which I kinda doubt since there was blood, murder and the concept of drugs were in play.... <.<;) If they brought it to the US as is, I'll be quite satisfied with it.

After 3 months....
I finally have the Otakon gallery up! Yay! *dances around the room* I spent most of yesterday and today writing up all the comments and uploading the pics. As usual, the link to my gallery is on my viable page. I have over 500 pics. I have some sub-categories since there are so many pics. I split the H category into yaoi and yuri and others. ^.^
Please let me know if there are any broken links and/or errors. ^^; Thx in advance!
Health...
I guess my little-to-no sleep finally caught up with me. I developed a sore throat and I feel so achy. No fever yet, but I'm drinking lemon and honey and gallons of water to make sure it doesn't come. *sigh* Why now?
more plans
Anyway, my next plan of action is to finish my Chun Hyang spear as well as work on 2008 calendars. I plan to have a yaoi theme, yuri theme, boy/girl theme, an Inuyasha one (for my friend, larkspur,) and a panda one (for my co-worker.) lol Done with one project and on to another. ^^;
Did I mention that I baked a chocolate cake yesterday? Makes me wish P-chan and co. lived alot closer so I can share my creation. ^^; Yum yum!

My co-worker lent Cooking Mama to me so I won't need to spend $25 on this short-term yet entertaining game. I think I mastered frying and pouring, but the art of stir fry still eludes me. lol in RL and in the game, I can't stir fry. Burning everything seems to be my forte. I also mastered making gyoza and spring rolls...okaasan said I should try it for real tomorrow. ^^; lol
unexpected rest
Since I was 'working' last week during the annual gala, the office is giving everyone who attended a comp day. I'm taking a dayoff this friday (my usual dayoff is still next week.) Yay! Another 4 day work week. Maybe I can complete the stuff I didn't do last week. Baking included. You know, playing this game really makes me want to eat something. *stares at the time* Got to wait until tomorrow.... ^^;
I also miss playing Maple Story. I'm thinking about getting back on and playing some more. P-chan? Alby-kun? Any takers? Perhaps not Alby-kun, I know somewhat of his schedule and sleep seems to take up alot of time. lol Perhaps that is why his skin is so much better than mine. ^^;
HughesxRoy in FMA novel
One of my fav quotes from FMA novel 4 is a short comment from Hughes to Roy: Hughes pulls on Roy's apron and said "You look good in that." O.O My yaoi-centered mine automatically turns that into meaning 'You look in that apron...and nothing else.' ^____^

I wish I can answer the quiz questions, but they're all in Japanese. Perhaps someone has all the questions that they'll ask online. (Unforunately/fortunately, the questions are random so we don't know what they'll ask. ^^;) With my extensive knowledge of Shonen Jump series, I will certainly get most if not all the answers. ^.^
I looove this game. *hugs game*

the wonderful world of fios!
Congrats to Pearl-chan! Ever since she discovered the internet, she has been downloading everything there is to download...except for anime. A good portion of my Sailor Moon and Fushigi Yugi mp3s came from her and she did it all on dial-up! O.O Research, buying, bidding.... She never ceased to amaze me with what she could come up with. youtube and FMA
*sigh* The weekend went by so quickly. I've accompanlished some minor goals like doing my laundry and reading story 1 from FMA novel 4. I also spent alot of time online participating in a contest on a yaoi forum as well as youtubed alot. Since the contest called for identifying various bishies from an amv, I prided myself on identifying ambigious ones, as well as lots of Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho bishies. Of course, Kurama was the first bishie I pointed out. ^^V
Some things I saw on the amv that I didn't know before...Vegeta in the shower. Butt naked DBZ characters. O.o Just go on youtube and type in 'Vegeta' and 'shower'. Type in 'naked' and 'DBZ' to catch the butt naked scene of Goku in the bath with Goten and Trunks. No shota! Just lots of funny moments. ^^;
I also darned socks. Lots of socks. I found myself saying "Darn socks! Stupid socks that I have to darn...." ^^; Convos with myself rarely make any sense...or sound intelligent in any way.

After work, I dropped by Borders and bought FMA novel 4 today, "Under the Faraway Sky". There is a second story of Roy, Hughes and Armstrong. lol The color pic inside is funny with Armstrong taking the entire page. ^-^ I can't wait to start reading. Tomorrow is my day off so I can read some (I want to enjoy this ^-^) as well as work on my you-know-what gallery. Oh yeah, I might bake too. Just because I can. ^.^
'If you were gay....'
Among the usual stream of angsty/drama amvs made to songs by Evanescence, love amvs to 'Everytime We Touch' by Cascada and others...we have humor category amvs of 'Riku Goes to Candy Mountain' and the infamous 'If you were gay' from the Broadway show 'Avenue Q'. After looking at lots of amvs on youtube featuring this song, I feel like going to watch the show. ^^; Too funny.... Two favs featuring the song is Ryuichi singing to Shuichi (Gravitation) and Fai singing to Kurogane (Tsubasa Chronicles). roflol
Bad news is I can't get the song out of my head now.... ^^;

And we have photos! (Not Otakon though....)
Kaori-san, one of my Japanese co-workers uploaded her pics from last night's party. Click here to check it out. I'm in a couple pics and my fav is the one with all of us by the piano. If you're wondering why I'm not in the group shots near the end, that is because I was already at the auctioning tables sorting things out. (They came afterwards to help. ^-^) The last shot is the dessert of apple torte with ice cream. Yummy...I really wish I had some. *grabs ice cream from fridge*
Book break!
My last appt. of the day was in midtown so I was able to drop by Bookoff afterwards. They expanded their English manga section (yay! ^.^) and moved it upstairs. As usual, I spent most of my time in the middle aisle...the one with the yaoi. ^-^ As usual, I checked out Aqua Comics first to see if they had 'Yokan'...and they did! For $1! *hugs book* This was the manga that I was looking for so that Tateno Makoto-sensei could sign last year at Otakon. I couldn't buy it so I had her sign another book. Of course I bought the book today. ^_^ I also found 'Hero Heel' (another good read, Diana-chan ^.^) and 'Ka Shin Fu', both by Tateno-sensei. But 'Yokan' will always be my fav.
I tried looking for 'Love Prism' by Tohjo Asami-sensei in hopes that it would lead me to book 2 of said manga...but I ran out of time. (Got to catch the train.) Next time, I'm also going to try to look for 'Golden Cain' by Asagiri You-sensei since the English version didn't have the short piece at the end about the two brothers Shun and Keiichi. (I'm assuming since it was kinda racy and the content would be incest so BeBeautiful decided to cut it.... ^^;)
'Tra la la....'
Two mp3s in one day! Since I've been delaying everything else, please indulge in the song above and below. Contrasting differences between Utada Hikaru and Gunther (not from KKM. ^^;) The 'Ding Dong Song' makes me grin everytime I listen to it...too funny. ^.^ How did I discover such a weird song? Youtube of course! This Utena amv made me lol alot. ^.^

it took me 5 hrs. to get to work this morning....
The car broke down with steering wheel belt problem. (Don't ask me to explain because I have no idea.) We were already at Stony U. except we were stuck at the side of the intersection. Me pushing the car = no change The campus police set a flare behind us (so cars don't crash into us.) I called AAA, called for a battery fix (since we initially thought it was battery) and when the mechanic came, he deducted that it was the belt and had to go back and get his tow truck. Broken belt = can't be fixed right there <.< My bad.... The delayed taxi service finally came (the car was towed to the shop) and then okaasan drove me to the train station so I can catch the next train to work.
Within those hours, I had already made several calls to the office, called my client twice, left a message with an attorney AND spoke with the ACS worker. Can you say busy?
no alcohol for me ^^;
Today was my center's annual fundraising gala with silent auction. Location was the amazing-viewed Tribeca Rooftop in the industrial area of the city. Even the thunderstorm added a nice flavor to the evening. ^-^ This year, John Liu, Becky Lee and a bunch of famous Asians (though I have no idea who ^^;) made their appearance and we actually had a sit-down dinner as opposed to the hor'dourves/fruit/cheese spread that was last year's gala. The grilled filet mignon with sea bass dish was delicious, but my fav was the lamb hor'dourve that was served at the beginning. The sliced pear salad was also refreshing. ^-^ Unfortunately, I was unable to partake in the dessert of apple torte with ice cream (Ben&Jerrys or something like that. ^^;) Besides the usual preparations, I manned the registration table as well as completed the evening with setting up the auctioned off items with the winners.
Choice items I saw was the iPhone, HDTV, crystal chandeliers, a 30GB iPod (why not the nano?) and 2 tickets to the David Letterman show. (If they were Conan O'Brien tickets, I would have bid on them for you, P-chan. ^-^) No raffle this year and it was more relaxing and organized then last year. Of course, we had a few mishaps concerning the auctions, but we handled it quite nicely. ^^V
There was also a baby grand Kawai piano at the Tribeca Rooftop. (Kawai, the brand, not kawaii as in cute. ^^;) After all the pre-gala stuff was done and we were dressed in our formal attire, I sat at the piano to play. Soon, I was switching off with 3 other girls who played partial classical pieces and we had fun playing some short duets that you are all familiar with. ^-^ One of my co-workers started throwing dollar bills at us. Later that evening, one of the bartenders complimented on our playing. *blush* ^^; Did I mention it was an open bar? O.O Of course, I kept to my soda water and regular H2O. ^-^

To do list: sleep...CHECK. Back to work. ^-^
After waking up late in the afternoon, I went on a cleaning spree of my kitchen and dining room before finally cooking some breakfast/lunch/early dinner. That done, I realized that my otakon gallery is still not up, but I took P-chan's advise and let it sit for a while longer. ^^; Afterall, my day off is for me so I became lazy for awhile. That said and done, I played games (almost done with JUS) and downloaded some more KND episodes. NOT IMPORTANT.
perhaps I need a second job.... ^^;
What is important is figuring out what to buy since Geneon dvds are disappearing. I narrowed my choices down to 3.... The 3x3 Eyes collections dvd set, Mermaid Forest set (I think the only series besides the Rumiko Trilogy that was made outside of Viz,) and/or X remix series boxset. >.< The prices for the first and last one is expensive. My love for Rozen Maiden, Saiunkoku and Fate/Stay Night will have to wait since they're incomplete. *sigh* Perhaps ADV will pick up the licenses...all 20+ of them.... *stares at ADV news site*
Game wank: no true opinion, just funny
The famed 'Halo 3' is out on the xbox and the fanboys rushed to pick up their latest obsession. That said, a reviewer for The Escapist, an online magazine featured said game and basically butchers it in an incredibly fast talking voice with an English accent and humor that is definitely NSFW. Flash review is here. I checked out some of the other reviews Yahtzee (the reviewer) has done and they are all funny. Others don't think so, hence the incoming wank. I may be easily amused though. ^.^
And I completely agree with the idea of plot in the Halo story. You won't see it in just 'Halo 3'. It has a wonderful storyline, but in order to understand it, you would need to play the first two games, read the novels...and/or wikipedia the whole thing. I like what a commenter on fandomwank said about the plot: "It's not layered as in subtle, it's layered as in you have to buy the whole franchise to follow it." ~iwanttobeasleep
And the camera angles just kill me. Literally. I'll be staring at the sky and someone will just come out and shoot me. ^^;

Geneon have released titles like Card Captors Sakura, Chobits, Fushigi Yugi, Ah My Goddess, Sailor Moon, X and and more of my childhood animes. If it's gone, it's gone. *shrugs* I'm more concerned with my 6/1 blog entry where I detailed the incident when I got punched in the street. Few frequent my site. Hopefully, one of the few don't empty their cache folders. ^^; Thx in advance!
