I added more youtube clips to Seki-san's friday panel, because I finally found some. ^^; Also, I added some more amvs to my amvs post. Pics...are still being downloaded/sorted. O.O So many pics.... I'm glad I don't have to worry about taking pics at cons, but maybe I should reconsider. Afterall, going through 3000+ pics is alot. ^^;

Too...much...chicken...wings....

Last night, I went with my co-workers to this bar in the city that served chicken wings for $.10 each. O.O They sold it in batches of 20 and there is no take out. It's a bar so everyone drank. I...had sprite. ^-^ Two of us shared a plate of 20: we finished it and I was thoroughly stuffed. Even the guys couldn't finish a plate by themselves. X.x Awesome place. Perhaps P-chan and the others would like to go some time? ^-^

Preparing for next year....

On the way home from Otakon, the bow for my Kikyo cosplay broke. *sniff* I fixed it today so everything is better now. I also fixed the shoes for my Chun Hyang cosplay. After doing my spear, I will be starting to buy cloth for my Tomoyo-hime cosplay. I like her dress too much to wait until next year to make it. ^-^

I haven't made reservations for the hotel for Otakon yet, even though the dates are already out. Still trying to find a better price...one that is under $300. x.X Okaasan likes the Shertaon hotel so I'm going to stay there again. If it wasn't for her and me liking the short walk over the skywalk, I would have tried for Days Inn like the first year. ^^;

Still sorting pics from both AnimeNEXT and Otakon. If you hadn't noticed, I added youtube clips to Noto Mamiko-san's friday panel. You can find Seki-san's panel clips on youtube, but so far they only have ones from his Saturday panel (which I wish I attended because of see-previous-post. ^.^) Added another amv from Otakon in previous post since I found a really funny one. Check it out for some smiles. ^_^

Return to the throne!

Guess who got her seat back? *points to self* A while back, I moved to a cubicle across from my original one and I got kinda sad/pissed. Yesterday, the higher ups talked to me and said that I could move back (if I wanted to) to my original spot. ^.^ lol All the moving was done yesterday and I'm happily settled today. One of my co-workers call it my return to my throne...or something like that. ^^; The return of the senior case manager! *bows*

con report updates

Report has been edited and grammer errors have been corrected (mostly. ^^;) I have added more youtube links for the Masquerade (saturday) and the Eminence concert (sunday.) I expanded on Seki Tomokazu-san's panel info (friday.) There are other stuff I added, but these were the major changes. I might add more youtube clips if I find more/better ones of some of the other panels. I haven't found any wonderful amvs that I really liked, so once I find them, I'll link to them. (There were good amvs...just not ones I like.) ^-^ So...in short, my con report is complete. Still working on pics.

Otakon dates for 2008 have already been announced (since tuesday.) Wow...that was quick. Next year will be in early August. Yes, I'm looking into hotels already. ^^; Hopefully, AnimeNEXT will NOT be in the same month again.

The con report is up complete with pics! Ano, please note that the pics are super unclear since my digicam is not the best and I sat far from the stage. ^^; I tried.... I'll replace the crappy ones with better pics once I find them. Youtube links are also included, though I plan to add more once I find more. As mentioned, I will be getting to the convention galleries soon enough. I have some after-con cosplay stuff to do...like sewing up some loose pieces and fixing props. ^^; I haven't really edited my report yet so there are errors scattered everywhere. I'll be correcting them. ^.^ So busy....

I just found out that there was a Sunday service held by Vic and Caitlin during the convention. Unfortunately, even though I asked several times, I didn't know until now. Oh well, next time.

Day off = sleep

I took monday off and slept until 1:30pm. My supervisor called me 5 min. after I woke up to schedule an appt (since I told her earlier to call if something comes up. ^^;) While eating, I watched some anime to wake up, but became super sleepy. Took a nap and slept for almost 2 hours. ^^; Typed up Thursday and Friday for my con report. Hopefully, I'll be done by tomorrow. Pics for both cons should be up within 2 weeks after my report...just give me time. ^^;

If you talked to me during the con, you'll know I had tons of fun. Rooming and going to a convention with my godsisters didn't change much which was a good thing. We mostly did our own thing throughout the weekend and bumped into other occasionally at the Dealer's room. ^-^ Of course, the yaoi panel was attended by all 3 of us. ^.^ Details and pics will be placed in the report. Please look forward to it!

Decisions....

The Otakon schedule was out this past weekend and I have a difficult time picking out the events I want to attend. ^^; Since Murakami Maki-sensei will be there, I'm making it a point to attend her panel and signing. Along with seiyuus Tomokazu Seki-san and Mamiko Noto-san AND the Eminence orchestra and composer Sakimoto-san.... @.@ I have concluded that I will have no time to eat. This will be one of my busier conventions. (Ano...when have I NOT been busy at a convention? ^^;) No worries, showering is still a high priority. ^-^

Since time is short, I will not be doing my Chun Hyang cosplay this year. My decision was made based on the fact that my spear is incomplete, the hair extensions that my co-worker lent me is wavy rather than straight and due to the tight schedule at the con, I will not be able to pull off two cosplays in one day. I don't want to cosplay on sunday. I like my kimono sunday tradition. ^.^ So...I will be wearing my Asuca Hayasi cosplay on friday and my Kikyo cosplay on saturday. (Hm...this sounds familiar.... ^^;)

Due to Otakon rules, I will not be giving gifts during the autograph sessions. Pocky will be given out when I corner VAs for autographs outside of those sessions. ^-^ Pringles will not be given out to seiyuus and Japanese guests for similar reasons.

To be a Gundam pilot....

A new ride at Fuji-Q Highland Park (Japan) features a 1:1 scale Gundam which people can ride. (Pilot? How? ^^;) According to this animeonline article, people who want to ride must first powerup the Gundam which is in standby mode. O.o They get palm pilot devices which 'controls' the Gundam's systems. Sugoi! I wanna try! ^_^ Like the articles saids, I might have to try a couple times before I can become a pilot. ^^; *starts studying on the physics of Gundam*

As mentioned in a previous post about the new Gundam series, Gundam 00, the character designer is none other than Loveless mangaka, Kouga Yun-sensei. The awesomeness of the series increases since the director is Mizushima Seiji-san, who was also the director for Fullmetal Alchemist. Yay! ^.^ No Gundam series is complete without a funny tipbit...which just so happens to be about the name. Apparently, Gundam 00 was only a temp title of the series. However, since they forgot to give it another title, it became the permanant name. ^^; lol

On a last note, Mizushima-san was chosen since Sunrise wants to give the Gundam series a new look and he doesn't know much about Gundam prior to working on the series. ^.^

The intern must be okay with reading "uncensored Yaoi and moe titles like Eiken." O.O I want to do it! It said that he can help you can college credit but since I don't need that, I'll do it for free! ^.^ Time to update my resume....

why I'm upset

The big thing that is happening at my agency is that people are being laid off. They made the announcement on tuesday and today they told us who are going to leave the agency. This may seem like simple 'downsizing' on companies, but this hardly ever happens in social service agencies and has never happened in my agency before.

I won't give my thoughts on management, financial stupidity and 'who made such decisions?' rants. I'm not being laid off, though I was worried that I might be one of them. However, I'm shocked to learn that someone who was at the center longer than I have is leaving. How in the world did that happen?!? The tension at the office today was incredibly high. I can say it was the worse day ever at our center: at least it was mine. This is different then those who decide to leave of their own volition, to go to school, better jobs...etc. Today, everyone was stressed, depressed (me,) sad and quiet. I have never heard such silence before and practically everyone who is not on vacation was there. We had to cancel all our appts so we could attend that horrid staff meeting.

They let us leave early if we wanted to, but we have a regular work day tomorrow. I left early to head to Book Off to buy Gravi. vol. 12 for Murakami Maki-sensei to sign. ^^; In closing, for the people who are leaving, their last day is tomorrow and/or monday. Some of my co-workers will have a dinner after work tomorrow to send them off properly. I already drew my usual goodbye t-shirts for the client services staff. (I never drew so many t-shirts in one day before. I am sooo stressed out. >.<) I don't know who on the admin side are leaving.

I don't know what else to write. I'm sad. I'm stressed. I have some con prep to do before Otakon and this sucks to hell. This is why my con report and pics are not out yet. I hope to get my head together enough to at least write the report before I forget everything. Need a shower: I'm checking out.

Something that I never thought would occur in our agency is actually happening...and it's not a good thing. I won't type any more about it now until I have definite details, which will be this Thursday at our staff meeting. I just want to say I'm very sad about what is happening and it's totally stressing me out.

Bachelor party...with the girls

Tonight was CB's bachelor/farewell/engagement congrats party. We went to Century Buffet for food and presented him with red envelopes and a 'Friends Forever' bear. ^.^ We talked about everything as usual and I gave him a goodbye hug since it'll be some time before he comes back. CB will be leaving for China on Thursday and won't come back until his wife-to-be gets her visa and/or greencard. Their wedding will be on July 29. He got a very short hair cut which will hopefully grow out by the time of his wedding. ^^; Omedatou, CB!

Did I mention P-chan will be the godmother of their children? She gets first dibs on the kids and me and Pearl-chan will get the remaining children. ^^; I already warned CB that I'll surround his kids with Doraemon. He is leaning towards Crayon Shin-chan. Either way, his offspring will grow up with anime. ^.^

MURAKAMI MAKI!!!!

Mangaka Murakami Maki-sensei will be coming to Otakon this year! *screams* She is the mangaka of Gravitation! *dances around the room* I can't believe it! Last year was Tateno Makoto-sensei and this year is Murakami-sensei! (I wonder is Otakon going for BL mangakas as guests? lol I don't mind at all. ^-^) I should've bought her doujinshi when I was at Anime Next. I was originally going to buy one of the 'Remix' djs but I couldn't decide which one. Now, I must buy a Japanese manga for her to sign! *plans to hit Book Off*

FYI, Murakami-san is requesting for no pics so there will be no pics of her. She is shy. ^-^ Both Shuichi and the mangaka of Gravitation in the same con.... *fangirl squeal* I can't wait to meet them! *runs away*

And I'm back!

Unlike I-Con, my post-con syndrome is not that serious. I assume it's because Otakon is coming up in two weeks and I am thoroughly pooped from this weekend. ^^; Although I was considering to NOT go to work tomorrow, I'm opting to go since I have stuff I need to do. Work and personal. ^.^

My convention report should be up sometime this week. My Asuca Hayashi photoshoot that was done with Jenn-chan on saturday will be up as well. I'm considering whether or not I should place it on my cosplay.com site.... Hm.... ^^; I'll go through the pics and we'll see. Jenn was a great photographer, but her subject (me) was not very good. <.<: Anyway, the gallery should be up once I sort through the pics...before Otakon. ^.^

Butterfly again?

On friday, I watched part of the concert for 12012 and fell in love with the song 'Butterfly.' Finally, I was able to download it so it's up. Yesterday's was Pikachu's version of the DDR song Butterfly. Today's 'Butterfly', is totally different. ^.^ Enjoy!

Loveless manga set!

I ordered Loveless manga 1-5 and it came this weekend! *dances around the room* I'm still waiting on another manga and I'm hoping it'll arrive soon. Hoping.... I'm soooo happy I have the manga since I've been wanting it for a looooong time. Yay! ^.^

FYI, my wonderflex also arrived this past weekend and I'll be working on my Chun Hyang spear this week. Busy aren't I? ^^;

>.<; So busy.... Anyway, I borrowed a GPS from my friend from church. Arigato, Jack! ^.^ Consequently, in order to borrow a GPS, I had to buy a miniSD. No need to explain, but now I also have a 2GB miniSD for my mp4 player. ^-^

Anime Expo announcements

Anime Expo (NA's largest con EVER) was this past weekend. Some stuff they mentioned has relevence to my bank account (which means they announced stuff that I might buy) so I'll just list a few. ^.^ Media Blasters/Kitty Media licensed yaoi animes, Angel's Feather, Haru wo Daiteita and a fav, Okane ga Nai. "A Foreign Love Affair" (Iroku Iroki Romantan) by Yamane Ayano-sensei will be published by 801 Media. June Manga (DMP's yaoi line) will bring out "Ai no Kusabi" novels, the first one coming in November. I saw the anime which was based off the novels and it is.... *nosebleed* O.O There are pets and pet rings so we have an idea about what is going on. ^^; I hear the novels are really good. Also, we have anticipated endings with yaoi manga 'La Esperanca' at 7 volumes and novel 'Only the Ring Finger Knows' at 5 volumes. (I have 1-3, so only two more to go. ^.^)

Non-yaoi news (which has no connection to my wallet, ^^;) Funimation took over the license for One Piece which was originally by 4Kids. Fans have high hopes that Funi will dub the series the way it was suppose to be. I'm just hoping that censorship will not appear since 4Kids censored that anime like crazy. Smoking? No way! He is sucking on a lollipop! ^^; Tsubasa season 2, Xxxholic and Love Hina entire series and specials are also licensed by Funi. I have two questions which are all about the VAs. Will Xxxholic get the same character VAs as Tsubasa? They are crossovers.... Second, are they going to redub Love Hina? It was originally done by Geneon and was not a bad dub (in my opinion.) We'll see what happens.... ^.^

Lessee, I went uptown and picked up - and Chinatown to buy - and then to DR - and then called - printed out - and called Jenn-chan to confirm this friday. ^^; That was today. Yesterday I - and - all within 30 minutes! ^^; *dizzy* I just have my last set of stuff to do....

So...what will I be doing tomorrow, July 4th? Laundry. I cleaned my apartment over the weekend and now I have clothes to wash. That'll be for tomorrow....

Did I mention I bought Pringles for the Japanese guests? My Japanese co-worker gave me that idea. Hopefully the con staff won't confiscate them since I hear that the rules for bringing in outside food and giving gifts are alot stricter this year. The special thing about the Pringles is that it has WORDS on it. O.o I never saw them before. Sugoi! Hope the Japanese guests think so too. ^.^

Cosplays: now and later

I'll be wearing my Asuca Hayashi cosplay on friday and my Kikyo cosplay on saturday...just like last year. ^.^ My Chun Hyang cosplay will be worn at Otakon. The wonderflex I ordered has just been shipped out (after I reordered it) so I'll be able to make my spearhead when I get back from AnimeNEXT. The earrings I commissioned my co-worker to make will be done when I get back (hopefully.)

Doraemon = EVIL!

Before, we had Counterstrike turning everyone into hitmen (assumation via news of Vir. Tech shootings,) now we have a killer claiming Doraemon as his accomplice in murder. Yes, watching anime and eating dorayaki (Doraemon's fav food) will turn you into killing machines! He is real! He comes through the closet and TELLS ME THINGS! rofl People don't understand what the guy wanted Doraemon to do with a dead body in a drawer and why he would stick his hands in other ppl's pockets.... O.o I don't get it either.

Tribute or ripoff?

If you remember, I wrote a post a few months back about a Korean singer re-enacting a scene from FFVII:AC in her MV. It became a legal issue since the singer and co. didn't even ask Square Enix for permission to use the scene. Today, we have different video with the same concept...and more insanity from viewers. Though they aren't typing about copyright issues. ^^;

Rapper Kanye West's new vid "Stronger" re-enacts scenes from anime classic, Akira by Otomo Katsuhiro-sensei. This site has the scenes from both the movie and MV for side-by-side comparison. Pretty nice for Akira fans to see what was placed in the MV. However, opinions fly about whether the song was good enough or was the MV really a tribute to the anime. Or is Kanye just trying to use the anime influence to make his vid better?

My main question about the MV is whether or not they got permission to shoot Akira-centered scenes. (I posted the question on the comparision site, though I have yet to receive an answer. ^^;) To me, the song is catchy (though not as catchy as the Korean singer's) and it's a typical rap song. The MV is interesting enough with the mixture of CG and RL scenes with sexy dancers. If it's a tribute video (like the Korean MV,) they did a pretty good re-enactment. (Though I still didn't see any giant teddy bears and the singer's arm didn't blow up. Minus 15 points for inaccuracy! ^.^) As an MV in itself, it made little to no sense and only Akira fans would have any idea what came from where. Funny thing is, alot of the Akira fans are not really happy with the vid. ^^; Me? As an Akira-fan, the only thing I care about is if proper credit was given. Kanye is certainly not Tetsuo and Christian Montoya (writer of the comp. article) is right to say he looks like he is hungry and crying half the time. ^^; Can anyone translate the Japanese words? Hopefully this vid comes out with subs.
