Ladies' Canoe Polo Team. Kingston Mummies is a ladies' team and at present we only play in the Yorkshire & Humberside ladies' league; we started playing as a team in 1998 and started the 1999 season having never ever won a match although we did eventually (two years later) break our duck! We took our team name from the fact that all of the original squad have one or more children (mostly sons) who play canoe polo. The combined ages of our current team squad of seven is in excess of 250 years, and when you take into consideration that one of the players is a teenage girl and another is only in her early 20's, you will see that the rest of us are definitely old enough to know better!
Watch
This Space, as they say, for action photos from the new season!
Canoe
Polo is a game played by two teams of five players paddling specially-modified
kayaks and passing a ball from one to another, the ultimate aim
of the game being to score in goals suspended 6 feet above the water.
The rules are many and complicated and have a "rules
of the game" page all of their own, but for a simple summary
(and our own version!) check out the "About
Polo" page or go to the "Links" page
to find more canoeing and canoe polo links.
