| How to get to Karpathos ? You can go to Karpathos on two different ways; by plane or by boat. In summertime there are several charterflights from all kinds of different countries. For example The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. You can also take a flight with Olympic Airways, the national airline company of Greece, from Athens, Rhodes and Crete. In wintertime you can only go there by Olympic Airways. There' s a direct connection by boat to Rhodes, Crete and Pireaus, 2-4 times a week. This is also depending in which season you go. The other islands you can reach by boat, but than you first have to go to Rhodes or Crete. You can ask for the schedule at the local travel agencies. |

| A small introduction Karpathos is one of the Greek islands, it's situated in the south between Rhodes and Crete. And it's the second largest island of the Dodecanese chain. The island is mountainous, the highest peak being Kali Limni at 1,214 metres above sea level. This mountain peak seperate the island in the rough northern part with only a few villages and the southern flat part with the most villages. Most of the tourist stay in the south in the cities Pigadia (the capital of Karpathos) and in Lefkos or Arkasa. More about those cities later. |
