Yahoo Groups has a wonderful portal, which you can utilise effectively to make this an enriching & fruitful cyber sphere. Linking to the homepage is your first step to its  goodies. Here're briefly what its tools are all about & how you can hone them to accentute your style.

Read the explanations & then Click on the respective links below:

1. Home : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni

It takes you to the homepage of the group. You don't need to  link to your email-id to access this  page. However on your left frame you have tools which you can  access only if  you've tied up your id with the group  using the wizard etc.  However Home , File & Photos are three  default tools that are  accessible to you even if you haven't linked your e-mail id  to group.

2. Database :  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/database

You need to link up to access this. This  is a wonderful  facility wherein you can create  databases for your  bookkeeping activities or some other  creative work viz. we  have created a Kumauni thesaurus for all  our members to share the kumauni dialectical heritage.

3. Photos :  http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/lst

Another wonderful database, where you  can share your  travel experiences or other interesting  images .Only ensure that the images you upload should be  compressed (not  BMP's) since you only get 30 Megs of  storage.

4. BookMarks :  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/links

Now that’s neat. You can bookmark sites  and information  that you feel could be useful or helpful  to your group members.

5. Polls :  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/polls

Need I say anything on this. Use can  utilise this tool  to  foment opinions , ingratiate or  deprecate  others....I mean if your portal wields  that much  influence and reach.

6. Calender :  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/calendar

Thats another cute little housekeeping  utility. It may be  used to set reminders for the group. You  can schedule events , broadcast messages at set  intervals and their  reminders at specified intervals. For  instance if u set up a poll for the group or set up an  invitation for a group  chat you can use this tool to set  specific reminders.

7. Chat :  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/chat

I think everybody knows about this. It  along with Calendar  can be used to schedule group chats at  times convenient to all.

8. Messages :  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumauni/messages

Last but not least. If you want to access older messages this is the link.
