Editorial: "Quality over Quantity"
'Allo All! Well, I may have laid claim to the first 'kill' in the new
Union. For any who have been following the Tavern posts you have noticed a
strange and very brief discourse between myself and one heretofore exiled
member, name withheld to protect HIS ignorance this time!
To make a long matter short, he posted at the Tav a recruitment letter
for a substandard game (and that is being very nice in describing it!) so,
being the keen watchdog I am, immediately went to confront the young man.
The conversation continued something like this...
"Monty here. A thousand pardons but we don't allow recruitment to other
games from Union unless they are first approved. I've removed your post and
would be glad to review your game."
"mnty, u r a @#%^#$ cowerd!!!!!1111 #^@#% u n yer moma 2"
"I see. No need to review your game then. You are exiled. Have a
nice life."
Now I would have been content to let this matter just fall to the past
because I neither have time nor feel the Knights are yet ready to go chasing
the likes of him over the net. Seems a chase wasn't needed because he was
soon back with a new screen name every time I could put the one before it on
ignore!
Knowing the skills I developed as a Knight on AOL and having learned how
to deal with the likes of him I very quickly found the resources needed to
report this scoundrel to the good folks at Yahoo! Messenger. I'll be adding
these to a 'Special Operations' manual for the Knights soon and was able to
collect no less than six violations of which I promptly reported.
The sad thing about all this is, as is the case for so many juveniles,
is even after warning after warning, which I gave far beyond fair to what I
see as ridiculous AND redundant, he just never got the picture! Not only he
but his entire household may lose Yahoo priveledges as a result of his
actions!
Let me add here the Knights are poised and soon will be searching out
these 'little demons' for the very purpose of having them removed from
whatever realm they exist. From 'frontal assaults' to sneak attacks, we will
again soon be dropping vermin as these like flies!
As a result three have left the company of the Tavern. My thoughts?
Quality over quantity. There may never be an end to his kind but, if there
were, those of us who seek to put an end to their mischief would have to find
other battlefields...not to say there aren't many!
My approach to 'q/q' began early this week with a brainstorm! I have
been thinking for months on how to reduce the 'novel approach' of Union
history down to a very basic form and feel I have in A Babe's Book of Sara.
This is written as a child's picture book and briefly explains Sara's
'life' in about twelve paragraphs, as she grew from a child to a leading
figure in the Dragon Wars to our goddess of good. My Muse is ever kind...and
I was so pleased with her end results this time!
Because of the amazing developments of the Knights it was almost a
requirement for me to rewrite Orders and Chapters in Union, a text that
explains the local and international groupings in our 'world'. Still in its
simplest form it is a must read for any truly active member whatever your
interest or location!
Another addition to our Library is the addition of a Periodicals Desk with Union's Gateways, Extras and Missives. I have already lost some issues but will soon be adding all remaining there and, possibly even next issue, have the Gate as a website rather than an e-mail! Those visiting be patient...the graphics and suck are there and will be added after I get the basic texts in place.
Many AOL users will be pleased at its easier to read format and
evveryone should be delighted with the greater 'magicks' each Gate will be
capable of!

Sir Malik and Lady Raven were promoted to Sargeant, he for the partly for
the work above she for the creation of Epona's tavern, our new IC FFRP playroom with no rules other than those from Union's Codes of Conduct...a LONG needed addition and a great place to go for just some 'friendly' RP!
Princess Knight has been promoted to Corporal for her fine Tavern
hosting, serving and (dare I say?!?!) wenching! Congrats to you all....keep
up the great work!

Lord/Lady of Law (LL): Union Council post in desperate need of filling!
This position currently requires less than three hours work per week and
entails:
* A working knowledge of Union Law and a willingness to see it enforced
throughout our realms.
High Priest/Priestess: This Post requires assisting Monty in the rebuilding
of the Palace Temple and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming
priests. Some ceremonial duties may include conducting marriages and
christenings. Applicant should be of sound moral character and tolerant of
the beliefs of others.
Union Knights: Always 'hiring'! please read the handbook at the Library and
now in the Knights' Keep ('runes' above). If ye have the metal and courage
to join us, please do! No duties required but rank may be gained swiftly
