"NO MORE SECRETS, NO MORE LIES is one of those emotionally charged stories that begins on a high note and climbs upward from there.  Ms. Roy created a story where all the characters are wonderfully and realistically developed, allowing the reader to just sit back and enjoy the ride.  The chemistry between Syndey and Grant is evident from the first, and the way the author keeps building the sexual tension between them until they finally "do something" about it will have the reader reaching for a fan and a cold drink.  Don't miss this one for the world."

The Romance Readers Connection

"A long hidden secret shows up during the least convenient of times, and leaves Sydney Morgan caught between the proverbial rock and hard place.  The shattered remnants of a passionate affair gone bad come to the forefront of her life when she is handed an account that can make or break her career, GS Enterprises.  The CEO and President of the company, Grant Sinclair, just happens to also be the man she left behind over ten years ago after finding herself pregnant and learning of Grant's impending marriage.

How can she face the man who broke her heart?  Grant has no idea he has a son, a son that also happens to be physically handicapped.  Can Sydney keep her son a secret?  If Grant discovers the truth, will he welcome fatherhood willingly or walk out forever?

Poignant, tender and beautifully written, I could not put No More Secrets, No More Lies down.  Sydney has her own demons to face, and she does so with grace.  Grant is the steadfast businessman whose actions keep the reader guessing.  But I felt their son, Brian, almost stole the show.  While he was born with a genetic defect, his will to succeed and more was not missed by this reader.  Rolled into one, the characters painted a wonderful, character driven romance that I am so glad I did not miss."

Women on Writing

"This is the second book of Marie Roy's I have read.  Her writing is always deep and emotional.  Though this book is a romance it is on the border of a mainstream.  Roy doesn't hold back in creating characters so real the reader feels they know them.  She unabashedly takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions and leaves them perched at the top anticipating the drop.  Knowing a romance always ends happily doesn't prevent the reader from holding her breath wondering how the author will solve the gap in their relationship.  Roy builds the sensual tension until the reader needs a cold splash of water.  The relationship between Sydney and Grant is a challenging one as they each admit their own mistakes.  However, it is ten-year-old Brian who will steal the reader's heart and not let go.  Everyone knows of someone face with the challenges this boy has to overcome.  The reader will cheer every step forward Brian makes.

I was amazed at Marie Roy's talent with her first book yet this one surpasses even that.  It is everything a good book needs to be.  There is sorrow, regret, pathos, humor, romance, sex, love and courage all written beautifully in the pages of this book.  This is what a romance book should be.  Bravo Marie Roy.  You have written a true winner."

"Secrets have a way of revealing what you wished to stay hidden...

Sydney Morgan has just been given an account that could either make or break her career.  She is determined to win GS Enterprises but she is totally unprepared when she discovers that GS's CEO is Grant Sinclair.  Her past has come back to haunt her.  Grant is the same man that she put out of her life ten years prior ... the same man who broke her heart...the same man who is the father to her physically challenged son, Brian...the same man who still sets her heart to racing.  Will she have the courage to face Grant and reveal the secret she has kept locked away from him for so many years?

Grant Sinclair hasn't seen Sydney Morgan for ten years but she still has that same beauty that had captured his attention the first time his eyes met hers so many years ago.  However, he is saddened to see that those same eyes are now shadowed with guilt and doubt.  What has happened to her?  Will he be able to convince her to reveal the secrets that she has kept so well guarded?  Will he be able to accept the truth if he does?

In NO MORE SECRETS, NO MORE LIES Marie A. Roy does an exceptional job in her development of her characters.  It has been a very long time since I found myself growing so close to the book's characters.  Her smooth poignant plot will stand up with the best in the romance industry.  Books such as this one are hard to put down once read."

Escape to Romance Reviews:

"Roy develops her characters so well that the reader wants to hate Eliah for his duplicity, but can't help feeling sorry for him instead.  Eliah is so bitter, but helpless.  He ends up seriously hurt during one of his "stop Sean escapades" and Lia and Sean must overcome their anger to solve the land development dilemma.  But, will a trunk full of secrets bring them the resolution both of them want, but fight against?  Or, can one never truly go back to the past?

The most important part of the novel is when Sean and Lia see each other for the first time again after so many years.  Despite, dirt, sweat, and wrinkles each see in each other the people they once were.  The people both wish to be again.

Roy's talent lies not only in the development of her main story line but in the realistic tales of those who come into contact with Sean and Lia.  These other characters bounce off Lia and Sean to make the novel completely realistic.  One can't help but walk alongside the main characters and wonder what will happen next."

Amazing Authors Showcase:

"A wonderful romance that spans decades.  Ms. Roy has broken the mold of the same old same old in romantic fiction to bring us a down-to-earth hero and heroine.

Thirty years ago Sean McIntyre broke Lia Stewart's heart when he didn't show up for their scheduled elopement.  She'd left the meeting place hurt and dejected, believing Sean had let her down in love.  She left Split Maple Ridge with no intentions of returning.

Sean had dropped out of Harvard Law and enlisted in the service and became a Medevac helicopter pilot during the Vietnam Conflict.  Now he owns McIntyre Construction where he hires Vietnam Vets to work for him.  A job lands him in Split Maple Ridge, Vermont to develop some land for a condo building project.  Lia's father, Eliah Stewart, plans on stopping the development even if it means shooting at the workers from a tree.  He believes Native American artifacts will be destroyed if the project continues.

Lia rushes to Vermont to mount a archeological rescue dig to pacify her cantankerous old father and keep him out of jail.  She hadn't planned on staying long, but Eliah breaks a leg and Sean offers them a place to stay until he's recovered.

Lia and Sean are still drawn to each other.  Thirty years couldn't erase those old feeling, but both carry secrets about the night of their foiled elopement that needs to be out in the open before they can start anew.

Can love survive over time and distance, secrets and lies?  A SOLDIER'S FORTUNE makes you believe love really can conquer all."

Romance Reviews Today:

"A poignant story of rekindled love and trust, A SOLDIER'S FORTUNE is the tale of two people who never thought to see each other again, but who were never meant to be apart.  Although I'm too young to know the trauma caused by the Vietnam War and how it affected the men who were there, Ms. Roy does a wonderful job of portraying Sean's feelings without being overly dramatic.  Lia is an intriguing mix of the young woman she used to be and the mature woman she has become.  This is a very intense story, but the character of Eliah adds touches of humor that lighten scenes throughout the book."

For a tale that is sure to tug at your heart, don't miss A SOLDIER'S FORTUNE.

Treble Heart Books

"With ever aging baby boomers filling the bookstores after retirement, it was only a matter of time before romance novels started to reflect a new a more mature hero and heroine. A SOLDIER'S FORTUNE contains a hero and heroine in their 40s, making this one of the few that appeal to that generation.

While the Vietnam war raged and protests and riots pock marked the nation, Lia Stewart and Sean McIntyre have a summer fling. Lia and Sean feel so much in love that they agree to elope, but when Sean never shows Lia is devastated. Years later, with a successful career, beautiful son across the country and her husband buried, Lia Martin (formerly Stewart) returns home to Spilt Maple Ridge, Vermont. Her father Eliah Stewart is fighting developers from building on his mountain, Eliah believes that there are Native American artifacts that are buried on the mountain and he is determined to find them.

Since Lia is trained as an archaeologist, Eliah wants her help in discovering where the artifacts are buried and in stopping the developers. Lia arrives she finds her father up a tree with a shotgun and Sean McIntyre down the road on the side of the developers. Why was Sean there? Why was he in the construction business at all? What happened to his plans to attend Harvard and become a lawyer? Was he here just to antagonize her father? Lia wants nothing more than to flee and leave all this behind, but when her father has an accident, Lia is forced to stay and confront past and present issues.

Sean McIntyre ended up serving in Vietnam instead of going to Harvard as planned. It seems that in Sean's life nothing has gone according to plan, now he has to face Eliah Stewart over a shotgun barrel in order to stay out of the poor house. If Sean can't convince Eliah to leave them alone, his backers will find another project to put their money; Lia showing up with a request to let her and her father dig for artifacts, is another delay that he hadn't planned on and legally speaking Sean just may have to comply. Lia' s showing up may be unplanned, but it's something that Sean could happily turn to his advantage.

This is a bitter sweet tale that reminds me of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series in some ways, instead of Grandma Mazur there is Eliah Stewart. The humor in the story helped to balance the seriousness that penetrated whenever the Vietnam aspect was brought to the fore. Marie A. Roy has written a story showing how love can come at any age. I see future romance novels with older hero heroines and I must say if they are all as good as A SOLDIER'S FORTUNE they'll be enjoyed by readers of every age."
