Episode 12

Episode Title: The Storm
Original Airdate: 030605
Production #: 112

Summary:

Aang's dreams may be more than just a dream. He remembers the fateful night he was frozen, along with reminiscent thoughts of Sokka, Katara, and Gyatsouu. Katara is worried, but Sokka is oblivious. Meanwhile, a storm is approaching... and Prince Zuko isn't having a day at the beach either.

Katara leaves home only to find Aang in a desolate cave. Aang reveals to Katara (and Appa, Momo) his pre-freezing history. Namely the days of when he was christened Avatar, interaction with his friends after that, and finding out he's being sent away from Gyatsouu, his guardian and father-figure. Back at the ranch, Aang relents on this with one more flashback-him nearly drowning in the South Seas, then being frozen.

Iroh settles down with some of the ship's crew and reveals some back info about Zuko. His "cruel" lashes out forced him into an Agni Kai with his father. After being harshly defeated, scarred, and scalped, he was exiled in request to capture the Avatar. Just in time for a lightning strike (that hits the ship and Iroh-hee hee hee). Zuko realizes his crew is more important than the Avatar.

Sokka's bravery is torched when he is lost at sea with the old man. The lightning storm proves dangerous when it nearly strikes Aang. However, he saves him succesfully, even braving near death by sea. And he still escapes Zuko.

Notes:

• Information about Aang and Zuko's pasts are revealed.
• Sokka gets a job on a reefer hauling fish.
• An Airending move known as the "Air Scooter" is introduced.
• This marks two roles where Sab Shimono and James Hong have starred together (the first being Jackie Chan Adventures).
• The second time of an episode flashback (the first being Winter Solstice: Avatar Roku).
• The first female Firebender is introduced (though it's only a cameo).
• The fifth time Aang's Avatar power is initiated.
