Only three hours away from where I live, the Vancouver Island West Coast is nothing short of SPECTACULAR...it a very tranquil, romantic place where Dave and I love to go, just to get away from it all. The small towns of Tofino and Ucluelet flank the Pacific Rim National Park, including BC's version of Long Beach which fronts the Pacific Ocean...*GRIN* Here's some pix from our trip out there in November 1999, to entice you!

Here's a picture of the place we stayed, called Ocean Village Beach Resort. It was SUCH a kewl place, with 2-floor chalets that have gorgeous views like this, of the Pacific Ocean! Dave and I were lucky enough to get a top floor suite...*GRIN* A great thing about this place is there are NO modern amenities in the units...no TV's, no telephones...it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the company of loved ones! *GRIN*
Don't let that sunshine deceive you...*HEE HEE* Even tho' the weather was beautiful while we were there, it was REALLY cold...the heat in my car is cranked, and my poor sweetie is having to scrape the windshield of my car...*LOL* This pic also shows the chalet we stayed in...top floor, #27! It was a wonderful room, complete with couches that had a direct view of the ocean through the sliding doors, and a full kitchenette...*GRIN* The pool and hot tub on site were pretty darned kewl, too!
While touring Pacific Rim National Park, we found this REALLY kewl nature boardwalk...so we decided to try it out! Over the course of about half an hour, it took us through some interesting terrain, within the local rainforest ecosystem. Dave's taking a picture of me, 'cuz I'm a little ways ahead of him. Lucky thing I turned around, or it would've been a "derriere" shot! *LOL*
What goes around comes around, so here's me taking a picture of Dave, from where I was standing! *HEE HEE* Unfortunately, it's not a very clear shot...the sunbeam was hitting his face PERFECTLY...almost too well...*LOL* This boardwalk was a lot of fun...there was just one place where it was washed out (but we managed to get around it!), and it was a bit slick 'cuz of the frost at that time of year...but we got through it unscathed! *GRIN*
This pic of us at Long Beach actually turned out not too badly! We set my camera on a log, and then Dave ran over so he could be in the shot, too...*HEE HEE* The amount of driftwood here is incredible, and so very picturesque...*GRIN*
