Fishing: There are many varieties of fish to be caught by either surfcasting , rock fishing or boat fishing. Some of the varieties regularly caught are Kahawai, snapper and trevally. The timing of fishing to coincide with the tides is vital at Marokopa as the fishing areas for surfcasting or rockfishing are inaccessible at high tide.

Surfing: Over the hill from Marokopa is Kiritehere and this is a popular spot for surfing and many keen surfers travel some distance to enjoy the peace and serenity of surfing in an isolated desitination.
