Marokopa Falls:

The Marokopa Falls are 30 metres high and are sometimes described as the most spectacular and beautiful falls in the country. Take a leisurely 10 minute walk down a track through the most beautiful native bush to a viewing platform near the base of the falls. There is a legend that a Maori cheif and his wife can be seen in the rock formations jutting out from the flow of water over the falls. This is not always obvious as the flow of water is dependent on the rainfall coming down from the hills above. Most of all do not forget your camera!

Piri Piri Cave:

This cave is not commercially operated so you are free to explore this cave at your leisure. However you do need a reliable torch as there are not lighting features in the cave. Footwear with good tread is also essential as the floor of this cave can be muddy and slippery. It is about a 5 minute walk from the carpark through native bush and your time is your own once you get there. There are many giant oyster fossils to be found at the rear of the cave.

Mangapohue Natural Bridge:

Situated 25 kilometres from the Waitomo village and caves the Magapohue Natural Bridge is one of the most amazing and beautiful sights to be seen on this scenic journey. Thr limestone arch that spans the Mangapohue Stream is 17 metres high and is all that remains of a historic ancient cave system. The walkway into this attraction is spectacular and there is lots of history in the limestone structures. Photos taken from inside the natural bridge do not often come out clearly as it is quite dark unless it is exceptionally sunny. The most exciting time to visit this feature is at night as the glow worms are amazing, so grab a torch and find out for yourselves. This natural wonder must be seen to be appreciated.
