Ivan Miljković

Ivan Miljković was born in Niš, Yugoslavia,
on 13th September 1979. He made his first spikes in local team "Student", where
he played for 4 seasons. After that, his
next club was former
multiple Yugoslav champion "Partizan" from Belgrade in which he plays from 1997.
to 2000. and gets his full affirmation. His amazing talent was noticed by Italians, so
next season he moves to Lube Maceratta and immediately wins Italian cup beating Sisley in
final match by 3:0 and being announced as the best pointer of the tournament with 78
points in four matches. At the end of the same season (2000/01.), he and his team win
another great trophy - CEV cup!
With national team young Ivan was even more
successful. First, in 1998, when he was only 19, he wins silver
at the World championship in Japan. Next year, at the European 
championship, he wins bronze
medal. The first Olympic gold
for Yugoslavia was mostly his "fault" :-). He was then announced the third best
player of the tournament.
But, the culmination of his brief, yet incredibly successful carreer so far was reached in 2001. During that year, not only did he win Italian cup and CEV cup, but he also won another gold, this time at European championship, and, what is more important, he was announced best player on three consecutive tournaments: World League final in Katowice, European championship in Czech republic and Grand Winners Cup (former World Cup) in Japan!!! No wonder many consider him the best volleyball player on planet at the moment.
However, although perhaps the most talented
youngster in the world, Ivan doesn't let the fame spoil him. On the contrary, he is
constantly trying to improve himself because he 
recognizes that as the only way to remain on top
where he certainly is now.
Ivan is 206 cm high and weights 88
kg. He comes from a sport-active family - his mother
and father used to play handball and his brother
plays basketball. His position is hitter and has always worn a shirt with number 14. Ivan likes automobiles (his
dream is to have a Ferrari), he also likes reading books and is interested in computers.
He is a student of Faculty of organization sciences in Belgrade, but of course, at
the moment, volleyball is his most important activity in life. He likes to eat pork, soups
and Serbian specialty called sarma. His favourite band is Offspring, and his fav actor is
