We boarded a jet ship in Helsinki and sped across the ocean to visit Tallinn, Estonia, formerly part of the Soviet Union. The weather was warmer but most of the people colder than Scandinavians.
Marghe found the shopping opportunities advantageous, so she bought a big rolling suitcase and bought, bought, bought.
Fabrics in particular were of interest to Marghe. She was in this shop for hours.
Marty waited in the City square, people watching and drinking strong beer.
This was the beautiful church spire you see in the previous picture.
We enjoyed an authentic East Indian lunch in Tallinn.
Here are two pictures of street life in Tallinn.
We had enjoyed Scandinavia, but we were cold to the bone. We were in Scandinavia Airline's travel office in Helsinki the next day, September 1, 2000, deciding where we would go next.
Suddenly we both knew our destination: God guided us back to California, to say Good-Bye to Martin's father who was critically ill at the very moment, unbeknownst to us. We arrived at his bedside in time to say our tearful good-byes, celebrated his life and our 40th High School reunion during the first half of September, 2000. A time of very mixed and conflicting emotions.
