The rating iconsWith help from Alex-chan and Shael Jeinas!A big dome 'o aligator to you, Shael! You're my hero, sparkling star or not! Here's an index of the icons so far: ![]() Trusty sword in hand, faithful friend at side, saving kindgdom/world from evil with help of magical forces... the usual clichee. Except in Kamishibai, these heroes are very often female. ![]() Strange creatures from other planets, who come to Earth to conquer, conspiracy or find their lost animals. ![]() Warning, incomplete! When a story or game takes too long to finish, some authors decide to make a "beta" version, with less plot, animations or features. These help people decide if they want to wait for the full version. ![]() Many stories have large amounts of it splattered around, sometimes for dramatic effect, sometimes for a cheap laugh, and sometimes because red hapends to be the artist's favorite color. ![]() Common to Kamishibai is the motif of cute bishoen, handsome knights and other droolable, but sadly very disposable male types. ![]() They may be an alien or a dragon, a keeper of aincent powers or just comedy relief. In any case, they're all so cute you just want to hug them. ![]() Serious stories with mysterious stuff happening, lots of people dying and a huge cut-back on the lighting budget. ![]() These are Kamis designed not only for amusment, but also to teach you something useful. ![]() Demons, vampires, zombies, math teachers... ![]() Short for Fan Fiction, these stories are just that - fiction written by fans and based on series they like. ![]() From panty shots to nekkid women, this icon shows which stories are not for kids. ![]() Tired? Feeling down? Reach for one of these, relax and cough your lungs out with laughter. ![]() The strange forces that shape destiny, manifesting in strange happenings, odd creatures and long animations. ![]() Not surprising to find this very common anime motif in so many Kamishibai stories. ![]() Many stories contain all kinds of robots, from giant ones to humanoid types. ![]() Some stories take advantage of the Kamihshibai format to give you various choices in the story. These stories usually have several different endings, and sometimes they even become games. ![]() This goes to stories that contain 100% pure self-drawn art. Not to smithe the rest, but to give credit to those who work hard. ![]() A Furby-like mascot tells its owner about her mission to save the world. A young girl discovers the hidden meaning of the pendant she has inherited. The aincent power is there, within them... now if only they could figure out how to use it. ![]() Churches, crosses, discussions over delicate topics of belief... These stories take full advantage of the Internet freedom of speech. Some people may and will be offended. Proceed at your own risk. ![]() "All you need is love... love is all you need..." ![]() They konked the plot on the noggin and they set it in outer space... ![]() The sad, the serious, the sophistcated. ![]() In many stories, the heroes are usual Earthlings, any first person off the street, not too different from you or me. Coincidentially, many come from Japan and have names like Yuriko Tsumabayashi. These icons are used in the grades field. ![]() The infamous Big Stick that I shall poke at bad Kamis until they go away. Poke! Poke poke poke! ![]() This is for stories that have really good art and particularly for those that haven't got many other qualities. And the reviewer-specific icons: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ribby's Seal of Approval ![]() ![]() Comments? Suggestions? Death threats? E-mail me! |
