Dreamland- Einstein's theory of relativityEinstein's theory of relativity has once again made the world's scientists wonder about the ultimate truth on light. This time the Australian scientists have opined that the speed of light may not be a constant. In other words they think that the world acclaimed theory of relativity laid down by Einstein might be wrong. To the Australians E=mxCxC might be wrong for a possible slowing down of the speed of light over billions of years. Hailing from Sydney's Macquarie University these scientists must have closely watched and witnessed the famous Melbourne Cricket Club performance that equally has never been the same. Some tests matches have returned MCC into a world known club of unparallel repute while in other instances many have lost their stakes. This does not mean that the speed of light has any thing to do with the cricket. The once in a while emotional announcements that the commentators would utter from the very cricket fields for example Pakistan's Shoaib Mohammad's ball proved a thunder boll for the last Aussie player at the last minute of the seventh day of test match.... Yes, in often in many a cricket matches the commentators do make such resemblances about the speed of the ball but never in the history of MCC any player has ever succeed to throw or hit the ball faster like the speed of light. It is because for a human person such is impossible. But for the Aussie scientists observing on the speed of light or the validity of the relativity theory would always be possible. Frankly this is the nature of scientific inventions and discoveries that wouldn't be possible if further discussions and experimentations are banned once for all. However to those students like myself who learned about the very Einstein's theory in late 60's it possible falsification would be heart breaking. Because to them Einstein has been the ultimate scientific world that can't be and shouldn't be contradicted. This is some emotional attachment that a student develop towards his teacher and that is where the news about the Einstein's theory has made many scientists think and rethink about the possibility of its being wrong? Yes, but what can one do if the new facts and figure would suggest so. In the report published by the University of South Wales on August 8, 2002 details to the effect of new evidence on the performance of light have come forward. Accordingly light from a distant quasar, a star-like object had absorbed the wrong type of protons from interstellar clouds on its 12 billion-year journey to Earth. These are the observatories findings that scientists have summarized and the process is still going on. What ever be the present facts on the very research one thing is sure. And it states that each scientific law shall ever be prone to challenges. And that is how humanity will continue quenching its thrust for unearthing the secrets of nature.
