The following is a release by the MALAYSIA GEOLOGICAL AND ATMOSPHERE ADMINISTRATION,National Earthquake Information Center: A moderate earthquake occurred about 320 km (200 miles) WSW of KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia
1290 km (800 miles) NW of JAKARTA, Java, Indonesia
at 4.03pm on 2 September 2005. The magnitude was registered at 5.8 ritcher scale. However,the official magnitude for USGS is 5.3 ritcher scale.The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No reports of damage or casualties have been received at this time;Several places in Malaysia felt tremors.
