Hazy

Sunday,
Monday, cloudy days
Tuesday, Wednesday, hazy days
Thursday, Friday, fuzzy days
Weekend is here, we’re out for
fun.
Oh! We’re groping our way around
‘cos hazy days are here again.
My mask is clogged up.
I can’t breathe!
(Cough, Cough)
Excuse me, please.

Haze
is a situation commonly caused by the
accumulation of particles (particles
from Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen Dioxide
and Sulphur Dioxide) in the air. The
particles may occur naturally or may
be a result of human activities such
as fumes from vehicles and factories,
and smoke from open burning (Mainly
caused by Forest fires)
When the particles accumulate in large
quantities, they block out the sun's
rays and reduce visibility. The Air
Pollution Index (API) is obtained from
the measurement of fine particles and
several types of gases which are harmful
to our health. The API reading is used
as a guide to indicate air quality.
People who are likely to suffer from
haze are children, the elderly, people
who suffer from asthma, lung diseases
and heart problems, and also those who
work outdoors. In Malaysia, state of
emergency can only be declared if the
API reading exceeds to 500.
