Dear Parents,
It’s the “season” for open afternoons. We have had large groups visiting
classes and getting to know about the primary school so there appears to
be a lot of interest in enrolment in the primary school…
So a reminder, if you wish to apply for enrolment for your child
the applications are due…
For Middle School/Senior College, Friday 1 June
For all Primary School, Friday 24 August.
On these afternoon tours I spend some time speaking to the groups about
what makes the school tick. Part of this is based on Deuteronomy 6 vs 4-8.
This passage speaks of the intergenerational nature of our
faith. “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your
hearts. Impress them on your children”. (The intergenerational
nature of children’s education was brought home even more through the recent
grandparents’ day… grandparents teaching their grandchildren!)
We are not to rely solely on the teaching of others, including
a Christian school, but must take time to impress a love of Christ and
a faith in God daily on our children. I strongly believe that parents and
school need to work in partnership, not instead of each other but alongside
each other.
We have really been encouraged this year in particular by the good
communication we have had with parents. I have especially enjoyed the many
positive comments from parents about what has been going on in the primary
school.
A special thankyou to all those parents who have assisted the school
in so many ways e.g. through sports assistance, helping in the classroom,
helping on trips and camps… its fantastic to see the involvement!

Grandparents photos
What a turnout for the recent grandparents’ day in the junior (Year
0-2) syndicate. I had a lot of fun moving around meeting many grandparents
and seeing the delight on the faces of the children as their grandma or
grandad arrived. Thankyou to all those grandparents who came along… we
appreciated it!
Do you recognise our Room 7 (Yr 2)Grandmothers? Pointillism in

CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS
Recently we had two teams take part in the zone cross country event,
Year 5/6 boys and Year 5/6 girls. Both teams ran extremely well and tried
very hard.
Special congratulations to the boys’ team which came second in the
zone with Ben Bellamy coming second overall. The teams were…
Annelise Posthuma
Saskia van der Meulen
Katrina Pinnington
Lisa Smalley
Demelza Stackhouse
Chloe Purdie |
Ben Bellamy
David Hoekendijk
Theo Mortimer
Thomas Tennent
Timothy Couprie
Isaac McLardy |
Thanks to all those parents who assisted on the day too.
WELL DONE… Nicholas Johnson, Room 6. Nicholas
gained a third place in the recent Canterbury Gymnastics Assn. Competitions.
Well done Nicholas!
Thank you… to Mrs Stephens who recently knitted a jersey
from home-spun wool to be used to raise funds for the primary school.
BLESSINGS…
Even on the bad days we need to
remember the blessings we have in our lives…
If you have food in the fridge,
clothes on your back,
a roof over your head, and a place
to sleep…
you are richer than 70% of the
world’s population.
If you have money in the bank, in
your wallet
and some spare change in a dish
at home you are blessed…
you are also among the top 8% of
the world’s wealthiest people
If you read this message, you have
now received a blessing from God. You can’t say blessings don’t come your
way!

MORE ROOM 7 GRANDPARENTS

GRANDPARENTS
By Michael, Room 7.
If I were a Grandma,
Or a Grandad,
I would let the children stay the night.
I would always give them sweets to eat
And never give them brussel sprouts.

If
I were a Grandma,
Or a Grandad,
I would give the children sweets and see them to the door.
I would always be kind and read them stories,
And never call them the wrong name and never give them beans!
"In thy light do we see light."
