TRANSMISSION SHOP Tranny used is the B2K5 offered in Japan. Honda Corporation gives these gear ratios: USDM/JDM
The tranny is running Phantom Grip's LSD unit. Essentially it consists of two blocks of metal, loaded on springs, made to snug-up the differential assembly. Clutch is from Centerforce, Dual Friction made for a 3rd generation USDM Prelude. I'm not sure how long this unit will hold up though. Real expensive, not sure if it was worth it. I even had to get my own throw-out bearing, didn't even come with one (bought the clutch at some other 'Performance shop').Thanks to Jason (Redshift) for helping me source some parts for a full rebuild of the tranny, including full bearing kit and full seal kit. USDM Accord throw-out (T/O) bearing doesn't fit the JDM shaft. USDM Prelude T/O bearing does fit the shaft, but doesn't fit the internal spring mechanism. Only one that fits is the JDM t/o bearing. Release
bearing
Flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disc
were all balanced together (blue markings denote alignment). The USDM
Prelude clutch splines match perfectly, whereas the USDM Accord clutch
splines don't match at all (use a USDM Prelude clutch). Clutch install was
straight forward...clutch alignment tool isn't necessary though (just use
a big socket). |
