TURBO B20A ACCORD

TURBO INSTALLATION

Ah yeah! The big hitter! Turbo installation basically follows the procedures laid out by Tom Coleman (Ludespeed), maker of this fine kit. Turbo kit is near completion, just waiting for the HKS blow-off valve.

Kit components:

  • Remanufactured Garrett T-3 turbo

  • Vortech rising rate fuel pressure regulator

  • HKS Super Sequential blow-off valve

  • Ceramic coated manifold, single boss made for O2 sensor

  • Custom upper and lower intake piping

  • Custom down-pipe

  • Custom turbo/motor mount and bracket

  • Walbro (Holley) intake fuel pump

  • Earl's performance oil pressure line and fittings

  • Coolant lines and fittings (to cool turbo)

  • Vaccuum lines and fittings

  • Autometer boost gauge

Step One:

'Tapping the pan' for the oil return line fittings. A single boss (3/8 NPT pipe thread) was welded to the front of the oil pan in order for the oil to return from the turbo. Tricky because the metal is thin. If you don't want to take the oil pan off, Tom Coleman can show you a 'trick' way of tapping the pan using center punches and a tap/die set - basically, punching the oil pan metal inwards and then using that metal as a support surface for the pipe fitting.

*More to follow as the kit progresses.

PERFORMANCE PARTS

Here's a pic of the stock JDM exhaust manifold (left pic). Notice that it's only carrying one O2 sensor. Most of the fuel injected USDM A20A3's have two...so, you'll need to dump one of them for the JDM B20. The middle pic shows the DC header for the USDM A20A3 (before switching to the turbo exhaust manifold). The right pic shows the cat and 2 1/4 inch piping, custom bent, ready for the turbo manifold and down-pipe.
