Areas Of Competition

Contestants in the 2006 Miss Black America Pageant will be competing in the following seven (7) areas of competition:

PERSONAL INTERVIEW (25% of score) 5 minute panel style interview with a panel of judges.

TALENT (15% of score) Can be anything from reciting a poem, singing,
dancing or instrument playing.

FITNESS (15% of score) Contestants can wear the following in this category: Swimsuit, Sporting Outfit, Workout Gear.

EVENING GOWN (15% of score) Contestants must wear a floor length evening gown and it must be age appropriate.

CASUAL WEAR (15% of score) Contestants may wear any outfit that best represents their sense of style.

ESSAY (5% of score) Contestants must write an essay of at least 150 words on a person of African/African American descent.

COMMUNITY SERVICE (5% of score) Contestants may earn up to 5 points while making appearances as a Miss Black America contestant.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE (5% of score) Contestants will have their photos posted on the Miss Black America website with a link to a special email address, each email counts as one vote.
