The Jesus of Mormonism

Jesus is our brother.

  • Jesus was the “first-born” spirit child of God (Elohim) and a female God. D & C 93:21-23, 29

Out of context Biblical passages

  • Colossians 1:15 "firstborn"
  • Job 1:6; 38:7 sons of God
  • Acts 17:28, 29 "we are God's offspring"

If Mormons tell you that we are God's offspring, show them Galatians 3:26 NKJV, "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus"

The Birth

Born by literal physical relationship of Elohim and Mary

"Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being...he was born in the same literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. He was begotten, conceived, and born in the normal and natural course of events" Mormon Doctrine 1979, p. 743; 546, 547

"All men were born as the sons of God n the spirit, one man (Christ only) was born as the Son of God...He is the only begotten in the flesh. God was his father; Mary was his mother. His father was an immortal man; his mother a mortal woman. He is the son of God in the same literal full, and complete sense in which he is the Son of Mary " McConkie, A New Witness For The Articles of Faith, 1985, p.67

"Jesus had 46 chromosomes - 23 came from Mary, 23 came from God the Eternal Father" Steve Robinson, BYU Professor, interview on the Mormon Puzzle video 1997

If Jesus is a result of a physical relationship of God (Elohim) and Mary that mean both God and Mary are guilty of rape, adultery and incest.

Begotten DOES NOT mean fathered! Begotten means designated! God designated Jesus to be the Savior of Earth.

  • Now begotten means fathered, but 2000 years ago it meant designated. Language changes, what does bad mean? If someone says that movie was bad, I don't know to go see it or not.

Jesus A Polygamist?

Jesus married Mary, Martha, and Mary Magdalene. Elohim had many wives, so like father like son. Jesus was married at the wedding in Cana of Galilee. John 2:2 "invited" Jesus fathered a number of children before his death and Joseph Smith a decanted of them.

Pratt, Seer, p. 172, 159
Young, Journal of Discourse, V. 11, p. 328
Hyde, Journal of Discourse, V. 2, p. 82, 210

Grant, Journal of Discourse, V. 1 p. 344

  • When does a gerum get invited to his own wedding?
  • How could Jesus get married if there was no temple?

Jesus Atonement

  • Allows for our resurrection/immortality
  • Frees us from the curse of Adam's sin (no more original sin)
    • (now we are responsible for our selves)
      • If the Atonement cut the link with Adam, what about Romans 5:17?
  • Conquered permanent physical death ("Savior")
  • The Atonement happened in the Garden, not the Cross D & C 19:18, 19
    • The Cross is an offensive to Mormons, it symbolizes the death of Christ (as in a bad thing).
    • That's why NO Mormon Ward (church building) or Temple has a Cross it.
    • If the Atonement happened in the Garden, why did Jesus Resurrect?

Joseph Smith Greater Than Jesus?

"Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it" D & C 135:3

"I have more to boast of than any man. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam...neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such work as I..." Joseph Smith, Documentary History of the Church, 6:408, 409.

More Extreme Quotes

"There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith..." Doctrine of Salvation, V. 1, p. 190

"If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration (of the church) there would be no salvation" Mormon Doctrine, p. 670
