Sunday, June 27, 1999 - Raul finished the Radisson 200 race at Pikes Peak in 18th place after starting the race in 20th. Hopefully, the Riley and Scott chassis will be up to speed soon and we can see a better result for Raul in the Atlanta 500k on July 17th!
Sunday, June 13, 1999 - Raul suffered a broken suspension and retired early at the True Value 500k at Texas Motor Speedway last night. He finished in 23rd place overall. Hopefully, his luck will improve at Pikes Peak on June 27th.
Sunday, May 30, 1999 - Although he began the race in 33rd position, Raul powered his way to a 12th place finish in the running of the 83rd Indy 500 race today. Good show Raul!
Sunday, May 23, 1999 - After waiving off a qualifying attempt on pole day, Raul hit the mark on bubble day and will compete in the 83rd Indy 500. Raul had a great morning practice today ith a fast lap of 40.420 (222.662 mph) but had a few problems with the car during his qualifying run. His four lap average was 2:43.562 (220.100 mph). Although he is starting the race at the back of the pack, it is often said that "it doesn't matter where you start at Indy, it matters where you finish". Go get 'em Raul!
Thursday, May 13, 1999 - Raul has left McCormack Motorsports and has joined Brant Racing. Brant Racing utilizes the only U.S. manufactured IRL chassis - the Riley and Scott MK V. Riley and Soctt was recently purchased by Reynard and the chassis shows much promise for the future. Although this switch occurs very close to the Indy 500, we all wish Raul much success in his new endeavor!
Wednesday, May 12, 1999 - There have been major changes made at Raul's official website (www.boesel.com) and it looks really sharp! However, the best part of the deal is that the merchandise page is finally up and running. You can purchase hats and t-shirts as well as his helmets and driving suits. Check it out!
Sunday, May 2, 1999 - The VisionAire 500 race was halted on lap 79 last night, after flying debris from an accident killed three fans and injured 15 others. Stan Wattles, Scott Harrington and John Paul were involved in the accident which occurred on lap 62. All drivers were checked out by the infield Medical Center and released without injury. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the fans killed and injured in this tragedy.
Saturday, May 1, 1999 - Raul will start in 20th position for the VisionAire 500 race tonight at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Raul's best lap time was a 25.002 (215.50 mph).
Sunday, March 28, 1999 - Raul was forced to retire early from the Phoenix IRL race today. Kenny Brack missed a gear shift on lap 74, causing Raul to bump him from behind. Raul suffered heavy damage to the nose and wing of his car. Several pitstops later, he dropped out of the race due to loss of oil pressure in the car. He finished 19th overall after starting the race in 10th position.
Sunday, March 21, 1999 - An unfortunate 1st lap racing incident knocked Raul out of the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami. Al Unser Jr. and Naoki Hattori came together soon after the start of the race and ended up in the wall. In a reaction to this accident, Raul moved down the track and his car began to spin sideways. As he was correcting the spin, he was hit in the left side by rookie Luiz Garcia Jr. Fortunately, neither Raul or Luiz were injured in the accident. Unser suffered a broken ankle and Hattori broke his leg. Although this was not the desired result for Raul in this race, all of his fans are very proud of his efforts.
Sunday, March 21, 1999 - Good morning race fans! Well, the day is finally here and Raul was 5th fastest in morning practice posting a lap time of 26.769 (201.995 mph). We wish you the best of luck Raul!!
Saturday, March 20, 1999 - Raul had a tough weekend so far in practice and qualifying for the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami. He has been unable to match his Spring Training times at Homestead, qualifying today with a lap time of 25.887 (208.877 mph). Apparently he experienced a lot of push at practice on Friday, made some changes on Saturday, and then reported that the car was loose. Hopefully Team KOOL Green can resolve these problems before the start of the race.
Thursday, February 4, 1999 - Raul's combined practice times for the two days of CART Spring Training was 25.439 (212.556 mph). He finished solidly in 8th place overall and found more speed than teammate Dario Franchitti. It appears that he has a solid car to work with and his chances for a strong showing at Homestead are great. Go get 'em Raul!
Wednesday, February 3, 1999 - CART Spring Training began today at the Homestead Motorsport Complex in Homestead, Florida. Raul posted a morning practice time of 25.848 (209.192 mph). He is familiarizing himself with the Team KOOL Green Honda Reynard in anticipation of the season opener at Homestead on March 21, 1999.
Friday, January 29, 1999 - Team KOOl Green confirmed today that Raul will replace Paul Tracy at the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami, March 21, 1999. "I'm excited by the opportunity to drive for Team KOOl Green at Homestead," says Boesel, a resident of nearby Key Biscayne, "I know from experience they are a first rate team and I'm really looking forward to driving the Honda-Reynard and competing against all my friends in CART." Go Raul!
Thursday, January 28, 1999 - Although it has not yet been officially confirmed by Team Green, the Racer website is reporting today that Raul will replace Paul Tracy at the March 21st CART season opener at Homestead, Florida. Tracy received a suspension from the Homestead race because of his shunt with Michael Andretti at the Australia race last season.
Sunday, January 24, 1999 - In an exciting yet yellow flag filled race, Raul piloted his #30 McCormack Motorsports car to a 5th place finish. After a pit stop on lap 119, the team gambled that Raul could finish the remaining 81 laps without another stop for fuel. Although Raul got lucky with a couple of yellow flag laps, he could not finish the race without a splash and go stop. Raul pitted while in the lead on lap 191 and still scored his best finish in his IRL career. Congratulations Raul!
Saturday, January 23, 1999 - Raul greatly improved his Saturday practice times to qualify in position 3 for tomorrow's Walt Disney World Indy 200. Raul posted a fast lap of 21.152 (170.92 mph). We will be cheering for you Raul!
Friday, January 22, 1999 - Raul was 13th fastest in practice today for Sunday's TransWorld Diversified Services Indy 200 at Walt Disney world Speedway in Orlando, Florida. Raul's fastest lap in the morning practice was 21.985 (163.749 mph). He improved during the afternoon practice to a fast lap of 21.160 (170.132 mph). This is a really BIG event for Raul since TransWorld is sponsoring the race. Hopefully Raul can find more speed for his qualifying effort on Saturday. Go get 'em Raul!
