Gastrolab IMAGE Library - In this image library You will eventually be able to see pictures of every disease that make visible changes in our digestive system. Most of the endoscopic pictures are taken with Olympus video endoscopes. The picture quality in this library is not as good as in the original pictures - the original quality would have made transmission times too long. In this image library we will also collect some typical x-ray-findings in gastroenterologic diseases. You will see pictures of Reflux Esophagitis, Hiatal Hernias, Stomach Ulcers, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative colitis, Stomach Cancer and a lot of more.

Heart Pictures - Heart Dissection!

Heart Beat Bisection - An bisected animation of a heart beat. The equations of large deformation elasticity theory have been solved on a 3D finite element model of the ventricular myocardium. The solution uses orthotropic passive material properties and a steady state intracellular calcium/tension relation for the generation of active fibre forces during contraction.

Heart Beat Fibre Stress - An animation of the same heart above. The colors on the surface of the heart show the fibre stress during the heart cycle (red = high tensile stress, blue = high compressive stress, and green = relaxed or unstressed)

Heart Surgery Robot Movie - A movie showing how a surgery robot which can "lock" on to a position on the heart surface may work. Initially the robot is fixed in space, the heart is beating and the view is from behind the robot. Then the view pulls out to show the whole heart. Then the robot locks on to the heart. The view now moves back to behind the robot. The robot is moving with the heart and the view is fixed in space. Lastly is the surgeons view from the robot. The centre of the view is stationary. In principle this allows surgery, such as bypass surgery, without stopping the heart.
