Taking some time out

Deer Park View

Chilling

When Selina had left me (*buhuhu*) I stayed with some absolutely lovely friends in Queenstown. This is when I started to build this site, and I also did some writing and drawing, but mostly I just sat about and soaked up the sun, turning stuff over in my head. It was great to have a little time to learn the essentials of Kiwi life (such as the rules of rugby and appropriate manners for public transport) and for planning the future.

The photo above is of the view from Delia's and Mike's deck. Those are the Remarkables in the background, and see that big brown grassy lump in front of them? That's Rohan. Hehe.

The Southland lifestyle

This is my host, Mike, with a deer he brought home one weekend.

Great White Hunter

Damn, where did my Speight's go?

Me and Chester

Riding in Glenorchy

This is me on Tuesday 19 August, horse trekking in the Rees Valley. The horse is Chester, and we had a lovely time, despite some drizzle. You just don't grumble about the weather when you're in a place this gorgeous.

The ride took us close to several major FoTR locations, and several of the horses that took part in the trek had a past as steeds of the Riders of Rohan.

I stayed with Delia and Michael, two deeply hospitable and generous human beans, for... well, longer than I should have.
But eventually I got my act together and headed north again.
