NEWS: This site will soon be put into frames. Therefore I have not bothered to updated the navigation bars other than on this page and the last one, as it is a real drag. End of newsflash.

Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. Miriam Beard

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Oändligt är vårt stora äventyr (Eternal Is The Great Adventure). I am planning to use this space to post pictures and write about my experiences here in Kiwiland, so that anyone who wants to keep up with me on the other side of the world has a way of doing so. The site went live on 14 August 2003. It may be true that there is no bore like a travel bore, but I will do my best to find interesting things to do in the future, and to update the site frequently.

Trivia and random information about this site and its owner

The title of this page comes from a poem by the Swedish Poet Karin Boye (1900-1941) - it is the last line of a poem called I Rorelse (In Motion). It expresses something I believe with all my heart - that life is a journey and an adventure, and that we are only fully alive when we are in some sense in motion. (I am in the process of building a page of 'inspirational' stuff, harf harf, which will be part of this site, and you will be able to read the poem - and see my tattoo, after which the site is named! - and many other things on there).

The links in the nav bar are in chronological order, but you can also follow the links at the bottom of each page, you will encounter stuff in the same order that I did. Obviously you can also use the nav bar at the top of each page. Wherever you see the little compass, you can click to see a map of where in New Zealand the thing in question is.

The site works, as far as I have been able to ascertain, in Explorer, Opera and Netscape, but it is, inconveniently, optimized for Safari. I don't think I know anyone who uses Mozilla, so if you do, good luck to you, because I haven't checked with that one.

All pictures are taken by me, unless otherwise indicated, and you can click on most of them to see them bigger. There's an awfy lot of pix here, and some of them are large - my apologies for any absurdly long loading times.

Pictures, as you will be aware, never truly do anything justice, particularly not landscapes, and particularly not huge, majestic, awe-inspiring landscapes like those of New Zealand. Being party to this truth, I trust that you will multiply the beauty, splendour and magnificence of any landscape you see here by five in your head, and you will have some idea of how it might actually feel to be there in reality. (By the same token, you should apply the same logic of the unreliability of photographs, and a similar arithmetic, although in the opposite way - reducing things by at least a third - every time you see a picture of me).

***NERD ALERT **** NERD ALERT **** NERD ALERT **** NERD ALERT****

I have it on good authority, that somewhere in Kiwiland, there is a woman on the loose who has a) a very worn set of FoTR Extendend Edition DVD discs, b) a pair of knickers that say 'Haldir Lives!' and c) a bad case of frolijah syndrome. I have no idea who she is, I have never met her, but she is armed with an obscene amount of Tolkien trivia and filming factoids (not to mention a copy of the Book of Nonsense), and should be considered dangerous. It is my sincere hope that nobody is bored to death, or do themselves an injury laughing at her. If they should come across her.

Well, that brings my introductory remarks to their end, so if nobody has any further questions - on to the pictures and stuff!

Or, if you've been here before, and know what you are after, use the nav bar:
