Methodology
The class will be held as a seminar. Therer will be lectures about the historical context and other background information but the main part of the class will be analysis and discussion (class and group discussion) about various aspects of socialst theories. There will be a comprehensive reader provided by the lecturers. There will be a chapter on each week of the course which will be required reading for every student in class. Other classroom activities will be students presentations.
Grading Criteria:
Particpation, assignments: 35 %
Midterm assignment: 25 %
Final Paper: 40 %
One part of the participation score is class attendance. Students who attend less then 11 classes will get a penalty on their particpation score. The second part of the participation score is participation during class (asking questions, participation in groupworks and discussion). The third and major part of the participation score is the grading of the regular class assignments.
The midterm assignment is a either a presentation in class or a written task 700 -1400 words, TNR, size 12 about one of the theoreticians or theories spoken about in class.
The final paper should be a deep analyisis of a topic connected to the input of the class. The topic has to be agreed on between student and lecturers. The paper has to have 2500-4000 words, TNR, size 12.
