The structure of studies and the academic calendar is based on semesters.
There are two semesters per academic year, winter and spring semesters.
- Winter semester begins October 1 and ends January 31.
- Spring semester begins February 1 and ends May 31.
- Examination periods are in the months of February, June and September (3 weeks duration).
- Fall semester starts on October 1 and spring semester on February. 1.
Examinations in the Medical School (oral, practical, written) are administered at the end of each semester (in February for the winter semester and June for the spring semester).
The University is closed during the following periods:
- Summer vacations from July 1 to August 31.
- Christmas and New Year holidays: December 23-January 7.
- Easter vacation - one week prior and one week after Easter
