Course Description
It includes the following systems:
1 ) Digestive system-Diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine,
colon, liver, biliary tract and pancreas. Major disease entities are
peptic ulcer disease, neoplasms of the GI tract, chronic diarrhea,
malabsorption syndrome, pancreatitis, hepatit is, cirrhosis, inflammatory
bowel disease.
2) Cardiovascular system Coronary artery disease, valvular disease,
congestive heart failure, hypertension, pericarditis, myocarditis,
cardiomyopathies.
3) Hemopoietic system-Anaemia, hereditary anaemia, megaloblastic anaemia,
lymphoma, leukemia, bleeding disorders, myeloproliferative syn- drome.
4) Endocrine Glands-Diseases of pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, diabetes
mellitus.
5) Renal-acid-base pathophysiology, acute and chronic renal failure,
urinary tract infections, glomerulonephritis.
6) Miscellaneous-collagen diseases, infection
Course Description
Lectures cover personality disorders, psychometric testing, description
of neuroses, drug dependence, psychoses, schizophrenia, alcoholism,
disturbances of behaviour, learning disabilities, psychopharmacology,
psychotherapy.
Clinical teaching covers demonstration of cases, history taking, analysis
of cases and workshops on special topics.

Course Description
The aim of the course is to provide the student with the essentials of
Neurosurgery which includes the diagnosis and management of neurosurgical
problems, the ability to distinguish the problem and act accordingly and

lectures and ward rounds with patient examination, as well as attendance
of outpatients and participation as observers in the operating room.

Course Description
During this course students act as clinical assistants in general
surgery under supervision for 6 weeks. Their duties include the attendance
of inpatie, outpatient clinic and casualty department. They also take part
in case discussion and parti cipate in operations as observers. For the
remaining 6 weeks students elect 3 specialties among urology, pediatric
surgery, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, plastic surgery and vascular
surgery and spend 2 weeks in each of them with activities similar to tho
se in general surgery.

Course Description
This is a 12 week course of clinical clerkship in Internal Medicine.
Students are assigned to patients in the wards and they function as
assistants to interns with participation in case presentation and
discussion regarding the diagnosis, clinical cour se and treatment. This
course also comprises 3 elective 4-week courses among, gastroenterology,
nephrology, hematology and chest medicine and 2 elective 3-week courses
among Dermatology, Endocrinology, Immunology, Rheumatology and
Allergiology.
