Years in Litmag:This is my first year on the staff, but it is my second year of contributing to the magazine.
What are your roles? - I am currently a writer and reviewer.
Why did you join/write for the literary magazine?I joined the literary magazine somewhat because of the fact that my brother was on it. But being a writer I thought it to be a good idea, it allows me to compare my own works to that of others and also lets me see how other writers think. I began writing poems in 9th grade, it started as an in class assignment for english class and I found out that I was pretty good. As I have progressed in my writing over the time that I have been writing I now find my beginning works to be rather almost elementary. My writing I feel has gotten better, writing is a way to vent some of my feelings. As I constantly withold opinions, my writing is a way to get some thoughts out. This while attempting to make it sound good to an outside reader, so I guess I do write for others to read but the writing itself helps me. As I write somewhat for others to read and learn from my mistakes so that they won't make the same, I joined literary magazine. Literary magazine also shows me what talent I might have (depending on the reader's interpretation) and helps me to work with that and being a reviewer gives me on ideas on what kind of styles are out there and makes me realize my own.
How do you feel you had an affect, if any, on the magazine? - I feel that i have had an affect on the magazine. As I am a big contributor for the coming literary magazine of the year, I do feel like I make a difference for the magazine. I hope to be able to do more for the staffing and editing next year.
How many of your pieces were put into the literary magazine so far? - Last year three of my poems were published and this year, seven of my poems are going to be published. So over 2 years of contributing my works, I will have had 10 of my poems published and who knows how many will be published next year if at all.
What are your future goals? How do you think the literary magazine will have a place within accomplishing those goals? - I that the literary magazine sells well. That way the school can be educated on the talent of student writers of the school and it should give the school more culture and ideas as to how to express itself. I also hope for some more pieces to be published next year.
Closing comments? Literary magazine is a great way to express the thoughts which we all have. It should help to give culture to us all. I do hope that the magazine keeps being published for many years to come. Being on the staff is a good way to meet friends and fellow writers as most of the staff consistintly is made up by contributors. It is a good way to recieve lessons on life in reading the poems and shows the school who the good writers of the school are and what they themselves could be capable of. Literary magazine is more that just an extra-curicular activity, it is a piece of culture.
