29 December 2002
After arranging a car shuffle to have cars at the end
of our walk, we set off to Northbrook Mountain where we
enjoyed the views and morning tea. Even though there
was a track, we chose to take the adventurous way down
which meant avoiding cliffs and a bit of a scramble
back to the track.
We headed up to Eagles Nest for lunch then down to
Northbrook Creek. Once in Northbrook Creek it was a
pleasant walk downstream with some swims through
different sections of the gorge. The water was freezing
but refreshing.
The gorge is quite spectacular with high cliffs and
interesting rock formations due to water erosion. At
the very last swim section David dived in and lost his
glasses. The water was stirred up from everyone
swimming through, which made it impossible to find the
glasses. No further mishaps and we were back at the
cars at 3pm.
As we were on holidays, the following day 4 of us
returned to find David's glasses and to enjoy another
swim in the gorge. Thanks to those who came on the walk
for your company, it was a very pleasant day. Barbara Makepeace
