Advancing to Standard
Now that you've been playing for a while, the basic level should feel pretty natural. Its time to change difficulty levels. Moving to the Standard skill level is a big transition. The steps are harder, faster, and more numerous. You will encounter new step patterns, like 8th note combos, and then strings of 8th notes. When facing a whole slew of 8th notes, remember to keep your balance and don't panic. Panicking only makes it harder to keep with the music, and will also tire you out. You will also come across more difficult jump patterns, like 8th note jumps, and strings of notes and jumps together, like step-8thstep-step-jump. If you played Lesson Mode, you should recognize some of patterns, like the diagonal line of arrows across the screen. They are done the same as they were before, only faster. Again, keep your balance and don't panic. Eventually, these things will become natural, and the multitude of new beat patterns will feel normal to you.
