WELCOME TO EMMANUEL'S POETRY  CORNER

This  corner is dedicated to poetry lovers and people with knowledge of English .Enjoy...

POETRY:

no 1: "The First Time"

The first time I saw you, you gave me a smile,

an aura  of brightness, spanning a mile,

Our next meeting, you greeted "hello"

A tone so sweet, spicy yet mellow,

On our first date, you gazed me in the eye,

Those eyes so pretty,  I only could sigh,

The very next morn, you let me hold your hand,

It seemed so soft, so warm, just like sand

We got so close we could rub noses,

It was  so surreal worth a million roses

And not to forget, our very first kiss,

Sweet and subtle , gentle yet bliss

All  I live for, I hunger,I pray to,

For you to lisp these three words- "I love You".

no 2:"Valentine Woes"

They said love was blind, but I refused to acknowledge,

Till the day I saw you at college,

You seemed so Fine, almost divine,

As you sat down to tuck in your porridge,

I mustered my courage to ask you to the zoo,

My spirits soared high when you agreed to,

But when I got there, worked up like a mare,

I saw you with Terry Jay "Boo Hoo"

How then I wished, whenever I pray,

Never to meet you, keep you at bay,

Keep your promises , save your sweet voice ,

And, TO HELL WITH VALENTINE'S DAY !

no 3:"Understand Me"

They claim to know what's best for me,

From education to the social tree,

From what I wear to what I eat,

Every step, I follow their beat,

To what extent should I follow this madness?

My heart bursts with grief, my soul with sadness,

Dear Lord, I beg of you hear my little prayer,

Before my soul into a million tear,

Good God, grant that they may understand,

Before I come to this journey's end.

no 4:"`Star Oh Star"

How I wish I were a star,

That I may gaze you from afar,

That I  may see your every movement,

That my soul no longer need lament,

Summer, Spring, Autumn or Winter,

When the leaves begins to whither,

Rain or shine, night or day,

I just want to love you, believe what I say,

For I need not words nor classy conversation,

All I want is to love you without reservation,

Only then shall my needs be gratified,

My thirst quenched, my hunger satisfied.

no5:"A Silent Prayer"

Dear Lord, You've granted me confidence,

Blessed me abundantly, filled me with providence,

Whenever problem surfaces, You are always there for me,

Without you Lord, I don't know where I'll be,

For with You is contention,

No matter what odd position,

For all that Lord, and everything else,

From my black cap of hair, to my little blood cells,

I thank You Lord for each passing day,

And for strength to continue Lord , I humbly pray.

no6:"The Animal Poem"

Animals are better than humans, one million times,

Hey that line stupidly rhymes!

Why is it so, why do I lay claim?

Because for everything, we humans are to blame,

Dogs don't backstab, hardly a bit,

Unlike us humans , just for the fun of it,

Cats do not like to strike a grand pose,

Although WE do it everyday almost,

Hamsters do not have to put on a mask,

Humans live behind one, even to go to the park,

We live with corruption, lies and deceit,

And when things fall apart, we simply concede,

Perhaps, just perhaps before we try new silly thrills,

Let us  learn and emulate, our friends, our animals.

In His name

By Emmanuel Joseph

Name immortal name divine,

Strike thee awe in this heart of mine,

Clear the temptress of all kind,

Be thee always to me Creator fine.

Ye of power, ye of might,

Cast out then the cold of night,

Set aside our soul’s poor blight,

Keep us  in Thy merciful light.

Dice off sorrow, cast off woe,

Keep us safe from mortal foe,

Protect us from the evil and the low,

In us, the seed of life please sow.

Humans are but the savage beast,

Keep in our mind therefore, the eternal feast,

So that we have in the very least,

May still remain fearful, on our knees.

Your Name O Lord we all adore,

Our burdens heavy, our souls are sore,

In sin and agony we implore,

Lord cast off sin out the earthly door.

Much to the Evil One’s glee,

Mortals seem from God to flee,

What is to be must come to be,

In doing so, we paint our destiny.

Light of good, light of holiness,

Give us Truth grant us boldness,

Lest in our lives, we live in truthfulness,

Human are frailty, human have weaknesses .

Thus, we ask in Thy Holy Name,

Without sin and without blame,

Sin and death, You have bring to tame,

Aid us then in Life’s cruel game.

Hail ye from the throne of grace,

Reveal to us Thy Holy face,

Thine sacred Look in gentle gaze,

Solace to our sin’s disgrace.

Friendship

By Emmanuel J

A strong moat, a stable mountain,

A golden rare treasure, a live-giving fountain,

A shoulder to cry on, a beacon of hope,

A person to count on when you’re in a slope,

Those are a few things a friend means to me,

Without friends, I wonder where I’ll be.

Friends are those who share your pain,

Friends are those who take pride in your gain,

A true friend never stabs you in the back,

A good friend cannot be bought off the rack,

A true friend revels in your joy,

A true friend never partakes in a ploy.

How beautiful it is, true friendship,

Its deep meaning could never be portrayed, in any kind of material flagship.

Friends are those whom you can pour your hearts out to,

Friends are those few people who are genuinely are true,

True friends are hard to come by,

Unlike the common unwanted pest fly,

And above all, friends are those who truly care,

Like the friends to whom ,this piece I share.

Also, a new Stories section

  Prologue

It was a typical Sunday afternoon, a page out of Vanessa Ong Ling Ling’s  (not her real name) life’s diary .She woke up in her silver knobbed bed , with three maids waiting to do her bidding. “Good morning ma’am” wished Elephant-face, one of her maids. This prissy girl had nicknames for everything from her toys to her lecturers .The pampered princess could only let out a disgruntled bellow “Hmmph” from her four post  bed .Breakfast was to be served in her bedroom ,one  the size of an American football field. Life was good.

The limousine bearing the license plate registration ONG 831213 pulled out in front of the Ong mansion. Phillipe, her chauffer was waiting in it.Within two minutes, the limo halted in front of APIIT KL ;for Vanessa’s first day in college.Boy,was ‘life is good’ going to change?Or was Lady Luck still smiling at the pop princess?
