(JavaScript and Java)

Download the applets, source and parameter list for Tzu-Tai Liu's Fireworks.

(SO, MAXXY-WAXXY, you can do this in Excel, can you?
Well so can I, but how many DAYS you spose that'd take to download?)

If Nothing's Happening:
Right now, you should see fireworks exploding at night. At the risk of stating the obvious, you need a Java-enabled browser to view this page. At the moment, this probably means using version 3 or better of either Netscape or Internet Explorer. if you don't already have these, you can use the icons below to download whichever you prefer (or better still, compare both).

Then you need to enable your Preferences or Options for JavaScript and Java.

At the moment, the Graphics Pages and the Spells Pages are the most quickly changing parts of the site, so Soon, I hope to have more tricks in JavaScript, and to write a decent game in Java if I can get the time.

Until then, most of the JavaScript tricks are on the back of this page. If you check the source, you'll find three different kinds of ALERT boxes boxes and their arguments. They DO get attention, but that's mainly because they tend to make poor visitors think something's crashed, and then annoy them with stupid messages. You're welcome to copy them if you like, but don't blame me if you put them in your page and someone flames you.

As an example, you can click this link, to go from here back to the Welcome Page, with only minor harrassment.

Or, try doing what you're told not to, with the button below:

Coming next week when I've written a Java program for colour sliders [I know there's lots but I want to write one that fits down the side of my text]: (Dont press this button - it wont work for a while yet)
If you're in a more serious mood, you could check out the
to play with colour in HTML, JavaScript and Java.

Of course, you may only want to play games - try Karl Hörnell's IceBlox either to play, or to download his applet and the source code in Java. (Mouse-click in the middle BEFORE you press the SPACEBAR or the screen will just bounce).
Before you play IceBlox:

Naturally, it's also best if you have the music on while playing. If you've turned the music off (or if you came through a URL from another site), you can go to the Midi Info Page and reopen the Midi Player from there -
  • it is set up to keep playing even when you change web pages;

  • the player offers you a choice of 12 songs, or else it can scroll through the list, if you don't click a choice; and

  • the midi music is streamed so you don't wait for it to download.
If you have other JavaScript tricks to swap, send feedback by email.

If you came to this page from another site, it's possible to load the midi
player more easily, and the graphics more gently by coming here
"through the Front Door". (because that way,
some graphics will already be in the cache,
for the following pages),
