The land at Lone Gum was cleared, and the wood carted to the Berri Pumps during 1914 by Tom Jarrett and Bill Carroll, who were the chief contractors and teamsters. It was called "Soldiers' Wood", and priced at 10s. per ton: 3s for cutting and 7s. for cartage.
