"SON"

You were my first born
I had just a few years
Now my heart is torn
and my eyes full of tears

I watched you go from a boy
to a wonderful young man
until you were called from here
to go to that wonderful land

Inside I am angry and sad
of how you was taken from me
but, also I am glad
of the time I spent with thee

I don't understand why, Dwayne
you got in that truck that night
I just pray you had no pain
before you saw that bright light (Heaven)

I struggle and I struggle
trying to figure it all out
why you were taken from me
sometimes I want to scream and shout

all those accidents you had
somehow must have been a sign
that God was going to take you
and leave us behind

Everything that has happened
is so hard to understand
I just have to keep thinking
God needed you for his plans

How do we go on
in this world without you
just knowing that you're gone
our lives are so blue

I ask that you help me
get through each and everyday
oh how I love and miss you
in every word I say

You touched the hearts of many
from the young to the old
The love you had must've been a gift
from what I've been told

Every night as I pray
for God to give you a hug
before the next words I say
you give my heart a tug

The touch of your hand
no more I feel
but someday I will see you again
only if it's God's will

Your life was very short
but behind you have left
a lifetime of wonderful memories
just knowing how you felt

I'll never forget your beautiful smile
your love and your laughter
this will be with me from now on
until life in ever after

I know that you must be happy
to be in that glorious land
say a little prayer for me
as you hold Candance by the hand

I know you're watching over us
from the stars that are so bright
so when you listen closely
You will here "Love you and Good night"

Someday we will be together again
way up there in the sky
and when this happens then I can say
no more I'll have to cry

Waiting for the day I can see you
that will be such a joy
when I can run and greet you
my lovely baby boy

While you're in heaven
hope you have lots of fun
longing for the day when I can see
my "Wonderful Son"
