Daredevil; Marvel Legends, ToyBiz Meat and Potatoes; 3.0 Perks; 4.0 Homer Factor; 3.0 |
Description; The Man without Fear come to life... well, sort of. The figure is based upon the big-screen version of Daredevil, with the costume appearing more like a motorcycle gear then spandex. The figure is about 6" tall and sports the usual Marvel Legends articulation but medicore sculpting. Daredevil also comes with a set of nunchuks and a stand which can be mounted on your wall. |

'Born Again.' If that title doesn't ring a bell for you, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease get yourself a copy of the TPB. If you weren't a fan of Horn-Head, you became one after that story. So when I heard about the movie, I was pretty excited, and actually LIKED THE MOVIE. .... ok, still reading? Hey, it really WASN'T that bad, so please stop being so anal about continuity, et al. And whatever you have to say about Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock, Jennifer Garner was VERY cool as Electra.(Hint to Warner Brothers; BEN AFFLECK is kicking your ass with superhero movies, so y'all better get to it.) Anyway, a decent superhero movie SCREAMS action-figures. Naturally, with Marvel Legends kicking plastic butt, you would expect THE best Daredevil figure in the world... right? Oh boy... Ok, first of all, the figure doesn't SUCK by any means... however, as figures go, and considering everything else Marvel Legends has created, you also expect a lot MORE. The meat and potatoes are very mediocre; they crammed in the basic likeness from promo-stills, the obligatory articulation, some 'eh' details in the painting, and went 'Ok, it's done, can I go home now?' The figure does manage to capture the 'mod' look of the costume; the leather 'body armor' rather then spandex, the modified mask, et al. But there's no LIFE here, if you will. When you look at Capt. America or Thor, you see a figure rippling with muscle, character, a 3-d representation of the character from the last few decades. Here, it's just... well, it's just sculpted plastic that's meant to look BASICALLY like Daredevil. The perks are likewise 'eh.' Daredevil comes with a figure stand that looks like the stained-glass windows from the scenes in the cathedral. A nice touch is the stand can be hung on a wall so you can have Daredevil 'perched' there. Bad news is the stand can ONLY be used that way, so there's no way to just put this on your shelf. The piece also comes with a pair of nunchukus. Unfortunately, Daredevil didn't use these very often in the movie. I would rather have the fighting-sticks and the baton with grappling-hook. Homer factor? Oh, what could have been. Like I said, I enjoyed this movie, and love the character, so the thought of having Marvel Legends recreate the Man without Fear just had me drooling. ... and then this happened. There was a world of potential, but it just didn't live up to the line of other figures Marvel Legends has created. Oh well, it STILL kicks the snot out of anything from 'Batman and Robin.' |
