Olympic Dresses Vase paintings of the Aegean and Homeric periods show
that the Greeks trained and
competed in the Olympic Games wearing short or specially made aprons. Postage stamps of
Cyprus and Greece have also reflected this attire. The apron-dressed runners that have
been reproduced on the Olympic stamp from Cyprus had been taken from the design of a
Mycenaean jug. The Greek Olympic stamp also features the apron-clad wrestler as
depicted on the ancient Greek amphora.
